I have been very much fascinated by all the electronic devices we use in our daily life and

can’t even imagine our life without them. I can’t spend a day without using my laptop, smart

phone. I especially appreciates all the electronic features of my car and all of these devices

are the result of modern integrated circuit realization techniques. So I decided to make a

career in the field of electronics.

In the second year of my engineering studies I was introduced to the subject of Digital

Electronics and Control Systems. In these courses I learnt about the logic gates and

realization of various functions using them, these courses gave me an insight of how the

modern electronics have evolved from a single gate network to millions of transistors on a

single board. That was so interesting that I decided to learn about this more than the

prescribed course in my engineering studies and I joined a 8 weeks training program of

Verilog HDL.

During the first session of training training I learnt about the steps of creating an IC

that what is the aim, what should be the design, how it will be realised and verified etc.

In further sessions I learnt about the architecture and programming environment of Verilog

HDL and in the next sessions I was introduced to FPGA Spartan 3E Tool and I realized various

functions on it. I made 8 bit RISC processor and realized it on Spartan 3E tool. Further I made

various projects using Verilog HDL.

Working on the projects gave me a sound technical base. But the greatest advantage of

involving myself in these activities was that I developed the ability to multi-task effectively

as none of the contents of this training were useful for my engineering coursework.I was also an active amateur socialist. The driving force behind all this was my aim to

develop all the facets of my personality. In this process I could not achieve the grades I

wanted to in the first and second year. But soon I garnered the skill of judicious allocation of

time and energy. I did well in the third year of my engineering. Moreover I do not feel that

the marks I scored are the sole indicators of my understanding of the subject.

Since I am going to pursue my career in the field of designing I will have to learn System

Verilog as it is the advanced version of Verilog and is being used by the industry so by

learning it my knowledge to the subject will distend and Mentor Graphics is one of the topleaders in Electronic Design Automation tools(EDA) so it will be the best opportunity for me

to get a training from your facility as it is one of my dream job places.
