THE HAPS

Our - May 7th meeting had a

great turnout considering it

was the 2nd day after Cinco

de Mayo a nationally

celebrated festive type event.

Bob Kingsley opened the

meeting with the pledge of

allegiance and John Wats J

provided the invocation

reminding us how fortunate we

are to live in Sonoma County.

The biggest news coming out

of this meeting was the fact

that President Archies wife,

the beautiful and talented

Susan Julian has a secret that

has been long kept hidden in

the closet. Yes, after much

probing Archie informed all

of us that Susan enjoys

wearing other mens T-shirts.

Imagine that! That fits in

with Archies desire to manage

a Fredricks of Hollywood store

Doesn't it? Speaking

closets and well kept secrets

Del Raby was seen at an area

hang out attempting to have a

flat tire changed. It seems

Bel was escourting the

District Governor and enjoying

a great evening out when Del

noticed the tire was flat.

After attempts to have said

tire fixed, Del settled for

driving home on the half spare

Cme cheaper cars come with,

chie fined Del $5.00 for

buying a cheap car without a

&ull spare and built in tire

pump. Congrats to Marilyn

Piratt who passed Iher board

exam to become a professional

Massage Therapist. Dr. Franke

says it sounds like one hell

of ,a raffle prize. Leroy

Carlenzoli claimed Marilyn has

been practicing on his leg

throughout the morning. Leroy

also won an award from the

Civil Engineering Association

on a project in the Gysers.

Leroy paid a five dollar

•~«»cognitiori fine. It seem

'Wncy Aita forgot to notifyour guest speaker two weeks

that the club was going to be

dark and his services would

, need to be re-scheduled. It

seems Ben Stone showed up for

j the meeting and nobody else

did. Nancy gladly paid the $10

fine. Our raffle prize went to

Kent Seegmiller who went for

the marble and lost. Steve

Davis won the $10 cash award.

SPECIAL THANKS

To Dan Lambert, Loretta Slyh

and Tom Eakin for making the

t visit from our friends fromi " •

Japan so marvelous. This crew

worked very hard making this

* event happen.

FORE

This is it, everything is set

i for the greatest golf

I tournament in Northern

California. Dr. Franke says

it's a go. Everyone needs to

i remember there assignments and

' give the club your full1 support. See you on the links

this Friday.

MYSTERY ROTARIAN

Born in the great fly fishing

country of Pennsylvania (to

bad ' he doesn't fly fish).

Moved to Ohio and graduated

from a Jesuit school(to bad

none of the ethics wore off).

He says the school was all

male which explains his

thirst for the "fairer sex".

After graduation he started a

business in Cleveland but soon

left because he wanted to

become a Moriqon and went to

Salt Lake City to be close t6

the source.

He came to Santa Rosa four

years ago and can be found at

this office on 4th •street

(the back table;, of

Portofino's). He loves

children although he has none

of his own. He is an avid

golfer (he already has a hole

in one to his credit). Who is

this Mystery Rotarian?

THE HAPS

Our May 21st meeting found

Leroy Carlenzoli leading us

in the pledge and Dan Lambert

providing the invocation. The

first order of business was a

heart felt thanks to all who

assisted .in making this

year's golf tournament a hug )success. Chairman Dan Davis

provided remarks and special

thank you's to Mike Sass,

Steve Owles, Tom Eakin, Dave-

Lorenzen, Pat Solar, Nancy

Aita, Eric Van Cleave, John

Dolinsek, Albert Handleman,

Rick Franke, Archie Julian,

Randy Seelye, and Co-Chair

John Lynch. Without the hard

work and strong efforts by

these supporting characters,

this tournament would not

have been as successful. And a

thank you to all Rotary

members who helped make the

day a day to remember. And _)special "THANK YOU" to Gary

Bayless for providing the

full moon at the event. This

Page 4: SONOMA COUNTY MAKE-UP LOCATIONS &>clubrunner.blob.core.windows.net/00000004124/en-ca/... · CXI 2 =3-&>,o^ 'Loofc Beyond Yourself a R.l. PRESIDENT DIRECTORS Rajendra K. Saboo Nancy

kind of rounded out the days

activities. Thanks Gary for

sharing that with us.

John Dolinsek was questioned

about his recent trip to

Mexico and Carmel. It seems

John took off from work during

this slow period and went

south to drink alot of beer

( d soak up the rays. John hada great time and paid his

recognition fee of $10.00.

Speaking of traveling, Gary

"one day I'll get a real job"

Jensen returned from an 11 day

adventure. Hard to believe

this fellow would leave Santa

Rosa for a mini break. It

seems Gary also attended a 3

day business seminar (IRS

stipulation) to justify the

fishing expenses. Gary had a

great time and gladly paid his

$10.00. Steve Davis has

returned from a Canadian

fishing trip. Steve really

| joyed the break and spent

his time fishing. Steve landed

a 32 inch Musky (ugly fish

with big teeth) which made hiso»- -'J

for his enjoyment sins $10

worth. Our mystery Rotarian

was a mystery to most of us

who were asked. Stan Walker,

Rick Franke and Phil Hulen

spent $5.00 each for not

having the correct answer. Of

course Kathy Vyenielo was the

mystery Rotarian and talked,

with us on her trip around the

world. Kathy wondered if

anyone had traveled to

Bombay... Gary Bayless wanted

to know if that was in

Humboldt County. Kathy went on

with her entertaining talk on

world travel which made all of

us feel like packing our bags

and heading out.

Carol Estes and Bruce Reyes

are celebrating birthdays and

paid the traditional $15.00

each. Kent Seegmillers lovely

wife Joan is celebrating a

birthday which Kent

reluctantly paid the bucks to

recognize. Del and Harriett

Raby are celebrating a wedding

anniversary May 25th. Del,

without question, gladly paid

SUCCESS

Shauna Lorenzen announced that•

the GSE gathering at her home

was a great success. Our

visiting guests enjoyed the

hospitality and great food.

Tom Eakin was last seen trying

to learn a Sweedish accent

while consuming hugh amounts

of alcoholic beverages.

EUREKA!

Kent Seegmiller reminded

everyone that he will see them

at the District Conference

June Ath through the 7th in

Eureka. Kent will be the one

in a leisure suit standing in

front of the womens bathroom

in the main lobby of motel 6.

In case you don't recognize

him, look for the gravy stain

on his wildlife reserve tie.

UP, UP AND AWAY

A reminder of the Sonoma Hot

Air Balloon Classic June 26-28

off of Shiloh Road.

MYSTERY ROTARIAN

Another Native Californian

with a moving record from his

birth place in Barstow to 7

different homes before his

6th birthday (same mother &

father through all of this).

Once they settled in Penngrove

he completed his schooling

through high school. Then

went on to the JC and Sonoma

State. Met his bride to be at

a church retreat and is still

happily married. Began work

the day after graduating from

college and is still at the

firm as a managing partner.

All that early moving made

this guy yearn for stability.

This mystery Rotarian enjoys

outdoor activities (played

tennis on the JC team, but

now plays only once a year).

Likes archery and rifle

hunting for pigs and of course

would like to do more

fishing, but works so hard

and long that he hasn't the

time. Who is this MR?
