  • Sonic · Everyday Sounds Better 5

Sound that’s naturalWe put a premium on a user’s experience. We want people to be comfortable, confident, and enjoy the world around them without a sense of mechanics or artificiality.

Speech understanding in noisePeople value the words they hear, so we strive to ensure that thenuances of speech are captured. We appreciate that true understanding involves more than just volume. Our technologies seek to enhance all aspects of speech while balancing them with other sounds in the environment.

Simplicity in everything we doWe keep things simple to help users enjoy their hearing experience: basic design, easy operation, nothing extraneous. Sonic efforts make things easy for hearing healthcare providers, too. We provide efficient, knowledgeable support and back it up with sales tools and software that are straightforward and simple to use.

Style that stands outWe believe people will enjoy their hearing experience more when they’re not self-conscious about a hearing instrument. So we purposefully design solutions that are stylish, attractive, and appealing in every way.

Sonic products evolve, but what never changes is our focus on fresh, real solutions for our partners and users. Throughout our business, our 4S Foundation consistently comes through:

People have always loved the natural sound of Sonic products, and our newest products are no exception. Built on the sophisticated Speech Variable Processing Technology Platform, these products provide the benefits today’s savvy users are looking for – wireless connectivity, binaural processing, and of course, great sound quality.

Speech Variable Processing, a fast- acting WDRC system designed to replicate the cochlear amplifier model, helps keep sounds natural and speech clear. Special attention is given to accurately measuring the incoming signal, applying just the right amount of gain at just the right moment, and preserving the frequency contrast to maintain the clarity of individual sounds. Where available, select from the fast-acting compression of Phoneme Focus (traditional SVP), or the SVP variant Envelope Focus, which uses slow-acting compression to preserve envelope infor-mation - helpful for certain populations, considering age, high frequency hearing thresholds and air-bone gap information.

Frequency Transfer - a feature specifically for listeners with limited high-frequency cochlear function - compresses high-frequency input and “shifts” it to frequencies with better hearing. The result improves overall audibility of speech cues.

Unwanted noise can be distracting, confusing, and simply irritating. Sonic puts multiple Noise Reduction Technologies to work to identify and reduce unwanted sounds. Less noise means better speech understanding and greater patient comfort.

Soft Noise Reduction minimizes low-level background distractions like a whirring fan or humming refrigerator without modifying the amplification of important speech-related signals.

When wind is detected, the Wind Noise Reduction feature quickly sets the lowest frequencies to an omni directional response and applies maximum attenuation across all frequencies, providing instant relief.

Speech Priority Noise Reduction works to separate speech from surrounding noise, making conversations comfortable and clear. The system constantly monitors the input and determines the modulation ‘fingerprint’ of the signal. Sounds that are highly modulated are most likely speech and should be preserved; sounds that do not show modulation characteristics are most likely noise and should be reduced.

Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses unexpected loud sounds, like the clinking of silverware or slamming of doors. This is done by examining the input and looking for quick, unexpected, loud sounds. Once an impulsive sound is identified, Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses the sound without modifying other parts of the input that may contain important speech cues.

Reverb Reduction controls the lingering ‘ring’ that sounds can take on in large spaces like assembly halls or places of worship by detecting the specific characteristics of reverberation and attenuating just that part of the original signal.

    SPEECH VARIABLE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM

  • Sonic · Everyday Sounds Better 7

Sophisticated Directional Systems allow patients to focus on the things they want to hear—the important everyday sounds happening right in front of them.

The Adaptive Feedback Canceller system continually monitors the frequency content of the input signal for oscillation characteristics typical of feedback. Once identified, the inverse phase canceller quickly applies a counter signal to the offending component, which typically eliminates feedback before it is audible. If an amplified signal re-enters the microphone within 5 milliseconds of exiting the receiver, the system recognizes that component as a signal that has been previously amplified, and treats the signal as feedback. This allows for very quick removal of feedback.

The Universal Listening Environment constantly monitors for specific characteristics of the incoming signal (sound level, presence of speech, frequency content, and harmonics). By analyzing these different sound traits, the system determines which combination of features and amplification will be beneficial in the environment, and then automatically adjusts accordingly.

Environment Classification provides a hands-free, unified listening experience by automatically identifying various listening environments and adjusting features and amplification levels in the instruments to provide the best configuration for that specific situation.

Pre-configured Listening Environments make device configuration simple. Each Environment combines features and amplification adjustments ideal for that specific listening scenario.

With Binaural Coordination, devices can wirelessly share information between the left and right devices. This makes operation simple, and the experience is so natural, they may forget they’re wearing hearing instruments.

The Data Logging system records usage information about patients’ listening behaviors. By analyzing this information, you can make quick fine-tuning decisions based on historical performance data.

With Data Learning, devices learn patients’ preferred volume settings over time, and adapt the default amplification settings to match their preferences.

When one ear engages its Auto Telephone listening program, the Non-Telephone Ear Control feature specifies the other device as the non-telephone ear and reduces gain or mutes the input on that side. This reduces the distractions caused by non-telephone sounds and increases the perception of volume from the telephone.

The power to take any path.

Venture into any environment with the power of Journey. Designed for extreme hearing loss, the Journey Super Power BTE is prepared to go the distance. It starts with the muscle of Sonic’s Speech Variable Processing platform, then adds a robust set of features to deliver confidence, connectivity, as well as convenience. Send your patients out with Journey. They’ll put great everyday moments on the map.

Speech is our peak priorityIf there’s one hearing challenge every patient wants to summit, it’s understanding speech – and Journey gets them there. Speech Variable Processing preserves the soft nuances in spoken words for better understanding. Speech Priority Noise Reduction works to separate speech from surrounding noise while Reverb Reduction helps control the lingering “ring” that sounds can take on in large spaces like assembly halls or places of worship.

Frequency that’s going placesHigher pitched sounds can be a low point for listeners with limited high- frequency cochlear function. After all, high-frequency speech cues help make everyday conversations more intelligible. Journey features Frequency Transfer which compresses high-frequency input and “shifts” it to frequencies with better hearing.

Self-assurance in every setting Journey includes features primed for other hearing environments, too. Environment Classification automatically analyzes incoming sounds binaurally and adjusts the features and amplification to address that situation. The Analog Volume Control precisely adjusts volume in 1 or 2 dB increments, providing fine control for patients with a reduced dynamic range. Journey also features an LED Visual Indicator giving parents or caregivers an easy way to confirm battery life, volume or program changes.

Getting help for hearing feels like a big step—so big that only 1 in 10 people with mild to moderate hearing loss choose professional treatment. A little hearing loss, it seems, doesn’t justify a lot of hassle and big prices. Fortunately, the Standard IIC brings a better balance.

Easy to SuggestThis tiny IIC is called a “standard”—in part because it sets the bar so high. Able to comfortably fit 87% of patients right out of the box, the Standard IIC couldn’t be more friendly. Speech Priority Noise Reduction technology focuses on voices to make conversations clear and audible. Speech Variable Processing maintains a natural sound experience. And unlike retail off-the-shelf products, you custom program the Standard IIC to fit each individual with just the right balance of features.

Easy to WearEven the thought of wearing a hearing aid is a turn-off for some patients. They’re self-conscious of an instrument’s appearance, or maybe its an implication of of their age or perceived disability. As an Invisible-In-the-Canal device, the Standard IIC is remarkably discreet. It fits incredibly well without requiring custom impressions. And since it doesn’t require any extra pieces or domes, it’s easy to try—and love—right away.

Fit the Need in Every WayThe Standard IIC is an ideal device to keep in stock. You can use it to fit practically any patient, while still customizing the technology settings. Set a new standard for mild to moderate hearing solutions—and for your business.

Mild to moderate hearing loss may be common as patients age—but Celebrate is no ordinary solution. An instant-fit product packed with first-rate features, Celebrate will wow the most discerning patient. The Celebrate Standard CICW model makes better hearing more accessible to more people—fitting 74% of patients right out of the box. It’s easy to use and comfortable to wear. And it includes in-demand features you won’t find in comparably priced instruments. Help elevate your patient’s hearing experience with features like these.

Renowned Sonic sound quality Natural sound and speech understanding in noise are two qualities Sonic products are known for—and Celebrate is no exception. Built on our Speech Variable Processing platform, Sonic technologies preserve the soft nuances in spoken words to achieve better understanding. The Celebrate CICW includes Environment Classification which automatically analyzes incoming sounds binaurally then adjusts the features and amplification for each situation. To help listeners with limited high-frequency cochlear function, Frequency Transfer compresses high-frequency input and “shifts” it to frequencies with better hearing to improve overall audibility of speech cues.

Superior background noise reductionSpeech Priority Noise Reduction enables listening comfort when background noise levels start to rise. This robust noise reduction system allows patients to focus on what they want to hear, no matter how noisy the environment. Celebrate also boasts additional noise management features: Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses unanticipated sounds like clinking silverware or jangling keys, and Soft Noise Reduction minimizes background distractions like a whirring fan or humming refrigerator. Feedback gets special treatment too. The Adaptive Feedback Canceller removes offending signals and attacks feedback before it starts.

Composed for convenienceBuilt-in wireless capabilities mean hands-free operation and more. The binaural Volume and Program Change* feature coordinates changes with the press of a button. Adjustments occur simultaneously on both devices. The Celebrate CICW is also equipped with the Non-Telephone Ear Control* which automatically adjusts for better hearing on the telephone. When the user answers a phone call, Celebrate lessens or mutes the sound of the non-telephone ear to reduce environmental distractions while on the call.

*Optional wireless accessory is required to take advantage of this feature.
