SONIA DELAUNAY

BIOGRAPHY

Sonia Delaunay was born in Odessa (Ukraine) in 1885.

She died in 1979 in Paris.

She got married with Robert Delaunay in 1910

They developed CUBISM together

Symbolic shapes: Abstraction tendency.Rigid geometric shapes such as: circles and semicircles

The objects are broken and re-built in her works to make an abstract feeling.

In 1964, the National Modern ART Museum of Paris received 58 works from her.

Those works were in Louvre.

She was the first woman who had some of her works in this museum.

In the 1920’s Delaunay designed some clothes which were painted with light colors. Her designs were a revolution.She also designed clothes for theatre acts.
