Preparation:Sand entire piece until smooth. Wipe clean and with the 1" Glaze Wash, apply MultiPurpose sealer to all pieces. Let dry. Sand a second time, wipe clean and your piece is now ready to paint!

Painting Instructions:Use appropriate color transfer paper as needed. Use cotton swabs to wipe off unwanted paint marks.

Box and drawer:Remove the knob from the drawer. It slips right out and you can re-attach later. Base box in Payne’s Grey using the 1" Glaze Wash. Paint the inside edges where drawer goes in, with Wisteria using the #10 Shader. Paint the inside of the drawer and all sides in Payne’s Grey with the 1" Glaze Wash. Paint the front of the drawer in Wisteria with the 1” Glaze Wash. Knob is Payne’s Grey, using the #10 Shader.

Drawer front:Apply the black ink to the Garden Flourish stamp and fi rmly press into the drawer front, without moving it around. Once you’ve pressed over all areas, remove the stamp. If you don’t like the re-sult, let dry, and paint over with Wisteria and repeat the process. If you are not using the stamps, transfer the line drawing and paint with Lamp Black.

Top of Box:Load the 1" Glaze Wash with Payne’s Grey and pick up some Dioxazine Purple, work-ing on a diagonal, begin at the left upper corner and slip slap your way downwards. As you go, pick up a touch of water if your brush runs dry, and add more Dioxazine Purple and a touch of Lav-ender. Keep working down-wards and pick up a tiny bit of Mustard Seed. Make sure to keep enough Payne’s Grey in your brush to create a fl uid and subtle fi nish.

“Something” & “this way comes”:Base in Canyon Orange using the size 0 Shader. Line letters where shown with Burnt Sienna using the 10/0 Liner and highlight with Tangerine.

“WICKED”:Base in Lavender using the size 1 Shader. Shade with Payne’s Grey using the size 4 Shader and highlight with Wisteria. Outer line work is Wisteria using the 10/0 Liner.

Scrolls are done with the size 1 Script Liner with Lav-ender and Wisteria. Apply more pressure at tips to create a rounded end.

Apply one coat of Media Matte Medium to the entire top. Once dry, mix a 1:1 ratio of Burlap and clean water. Gently apply the paint mixture to the back of the spider web stamp, being careful to not over paint into crevices. Apply the stamp to the corners shown. Because the area was sealed, you should be able to remove with a dampened paper towel, should you not like the stamped image. It’s always a good idea to practice on paper fi rst or transfer the line drawing and line with Lamp Black. Trace the border lines, and us-ing the 10/0 Liner, line with Burlap.

Black Cat Ale:Base entire coaster in Dioxazine Purple using the 1" Glaze Wash. Trace the moon.

Moon:Base in Payne’s Grey using the size 20 Shader. Once dry, base again in Buttermilk. Apply only ONE coat here. This will allow the dark basecoat to come through and create depth. Apply a light layer of clean water over the moon, and shade left side with Raw Si-enna, using the 20 Shader and highlight the right side with Snow Titanium White, size 20 Shader. Add a light highlight of Light Buttermilk, size 20 Shader on top of the Raw Sienna shade to tone it down a bit.

Trace BLACK CAT ALE, cat, pumpkin and ground line.Base BLACK CAT ALE in Burlap with the size 0 Shader. Shade bottom portion off lettering with Dioxazine Purple using the size 10 Shader, keeping the darkest part of the shade towards the bottom.

Pumpkin:Base in Canyon orange using the size 12 Shader. Shade

sections with Oxblood, using the size 12 Shader and highlight with Tangerine. Using the 3/8" deerfoot, dry brush a touch of Tangerine to the center section. Stem is Raw Sienna using the size 3 Round and 10/0 Liner for the twigs. Using the size 2 Shader, add tiny leaves of Hauser Medium Green. Shade left side of stem with Dark Chocolate using the size 6 Shader and highlight with Burlap. Ground is based in Dark Chocolate using the size 10 Shader. Highlight the top with Fawn using the size 10 Shader. Grass in lined in with the 10/0 Liner, beginning with Midnite Green, then add strokes of Hauser Me-dium Green and fi nally Wasabi Green.

Trace “SINCE 1755”Base letters in Soft Black using the size 0 Shader. High-light the top portion of the words with Burlap using the size 10 Shader.

Cat:Using the size 6 Shader and #3 Round, base the cat in Lamp Black. Use the 10/0 Liner to add fi ne hairs.

Flying Lessons:Base the sides and back of coaster in Payne’s Grey using the #1 wash. Load the 1" Glaze Wash in Payne’s Grey and start painting the sky starting at the top. Work your way down a bit and pick up some Dioxazine Purple. Continue working your way down and pick up some Blue Harbour and keep painting downwards. Add a slight touch of Country Blue at the very bottom. Add some water during this process, if you feel your brush is pulling.

Trace the witch (except her hair), broom, swirls and tree tops.Base the witch in Lamp Black using the size 6 Shader, size 3 Round and 10/0 Liner where required. Line her hair in with the 10/0 Liner and Lamp Black. Add a highlight of Light Buttermilk down her back, and swirl-ing under her bottom, down her dress, at her sleeve, down the back of her hat and add a line with the 10/0 Liner on the front tip of her hat.

Broom:Base the handle with Dark Chocolate using the size 3 Round. Shade bottom with Soft Black using the size 4 Shader and highlight the top with Fawn. Knobby part of the broom head is also Dark Chocolate using the #3

round and add a slight highlight of Fawn on the top using the size 4 Shader. Broom head is painted using the 10/0 Liner starting with Dark Chocolate, then add stems of Fawn, continued by Soft Black and fi nally with Buttermilk. Use less strokes as you change col-ors.

Tree tops:Use a dry small sea sponge and dip a corner into Soft Black, removing excess paint onto a dry piece of paper towel. Apply the general shape of the tree tops. Removing most of the left over paint on a dry paper towel, add some Hauser Medium Green and go over the tree tops. Using the same method, continue with some Oxblood, then a touch of Canyon Orange and fi nally a titch of Mustard Seed.

Witch Hilda’s B&B:Using the 1" Glaze Wash, base the sides and back with Payne’s Grey. Base the front with Country Blue with the 1" Glaze Wash. Apply black ink to the Stampen-dous Mirror Mirror cling stamp and center over the coaster. (I put the inked stamp down on my table, ink side up, and apply the coaster to it, as I fi nd it easier to control). When fi nished, re-ink one side and fi ll in each gap on the sides, or transfer the line drawing and paint with Lamp Black. Using the size 20 Shader, shade the edges with Payne’s Grey.

Trace all lettering:Base words in Spiced Pumpkin using the size 0 Shader, and line Wisteria around the letters with the 10/0 Liner. Base the “&” in Wisteria and line Spiced Pump-kin around the symbol.

Sleepy Hollow Funeral Parlor:Base the entire coaster in Blue Mist with the 1" Glaze Wash. Apply black ink to the Candelabra stamp and apply to the center of the coaster, or transfer line drawing and paint with Lamp Black. When dry, paint in the metal part with the 10/0 Liner with Glorious Gold. The candles are based in Payne’s Grey using the 10/0 Liner and add small line of Bleached Sand down each side. Add Mustard Seed to the fl ame with the 10/0 Liner and a tiny stroke of Canyon Orange in the centre. Line in the wick with Payne’s Grey with the 10/0 Liner. Shade below the candelabra with Payne’s Grey using the size 20 Shader. Mix 1:1 ratio of water and Media Cobalt Turquoise Hue, and apply to the back side of the coaster. While wet, take a crumpled up plastic bag

and gently pat the entire surface, let dry. Repeat this process on the front side of the coaster.

Trace in lettering.Base in Bleached Sand with the size 1 Liner. Ap-ply black ink to the spider web stamp and ap-ply it to the right top corner, or transfer the line drawing and paint with Lamp Black. Let dry and shade around entire coaster with Payne’s Grey and the size 20 Shader.

Orange Garden Flourish coaster:Base the back in Lamp Black with the 1" Glaze Wash and the front and sides in Spiced Pumpkin. Apply black ink to the Garden Flourish back-ground cling stamp and press into the coaster, or transfer the line drawing and paint with Lamp Black. Remove and let dry. Shade around entire coaster with Oxblood using the size 20 Shader.

Blue Garden Flourish coaster:Base the back with Lamp Black with the 1" Glaze Wash and the front and sides in Country Blue. Apply the stamp in the same manner as the orange one, or transfer the line drawing and paint with Lamp Black. Once dry, shade around entire coaster with Payne’s Grey using the size 20 Shader.

Finishing:Sign and seal with DecoArt DuraClear varnish in Satin. Add one to two extra coat to top side of each coaster for extra durability.
