We’ve included a few pictures of some of the children’s work at the end of this letter. Cake Sale Completely off her own back, Phoebe from 2AM has decided that she would like to raise some money herself for Chumbageni school. She will be making cakes this weekend to sell after school on Tuesday 11 th June, with the help of her dad and sister Matilda, from 4AC. The cake sale will take place in the KS1 shelter after school, and all proceeds will go to Chumbageni school. “I want to raise money for Chumbageni school so the children can have nice hot uji for breakfast” Phoebe, Class 2AM Phoebe’s poster to advertise her cake sale Wrap around and nursery invoices Thank you very much for your patience while we sort out the issues with receiving June’s invoices following our transfer to a new billing system: these have now been sent again. The developer of the system is confident the issues have now been resolved but should you have any further problems please contact Les McGee in the school office. The invoices for July will go out at the end of June. Mrs McGee will send out a text once this has been done so if you don’t receive the invoice please let her know. Moving forward we will be sending out ‘how to’ documents regarding online payments. This is a new option and is only available to wrap around and nursery users at present. Once you have set up your online payment login you will be able to pay for the invoices online. Should you have any queries with setting this up please contact Les McGee who will be happy to help. Thank you again for your understanding and support, it is very much appreciated Payment and consent May I remind you of the need to ensure you respond promptly to letters and invoices which need returning to school or paying. With over 490 children on role at Somers Park and Malvern Vale, the office staff are spending a significant amount of time chasing up responses. On this note, I have been informed that there are a number of music payments outstanding- please ensure these are paid as soon as possible. Stunning outcomes from the Year 6 Family Learning Class 6ME Family Learning As part of our family learning programme, parents came into Class 6ME on Tuesday to take part in some joint art activities- here are a few comments from the children:

"The parent workshop on Tuesday was really enjoyable because we got to spend time with our parents whilst at school." Molly and Ellie

"I really enjoyed the parent workshop; it was extremely fun doing it with my parents and working with them." Harry

"I really enjoyed the parent workshop because our parents came in and we made dragon eyes. Firstly, we drew the sketch in our books then we made them out of clay. In the middle of the scales we put a glass eye instead of making them out of clay. They all turned our really well and we enjoyed making them." Hugo

"The parent workshop was amazing and I loved making a dragon with my mum. I am looking forward to painting my dragon." Grace

A wonderful Pre-school and Nursery puppet show

Pre-school and Nursery puppet show On Friday 24th May, Pre-School and Nursery welcomed a local puppeteer in to perform an amazing show called ‘Little Bo Peep’. The show included an engaging backdrop, some familiar nursery rhyme characters, lots of interactive rhymes and opportunities to dance. Rob was such a talented performer and invited the children to meet the puppets at the end. On behalf of the children and staff, we would like to say a huge thank you to FOSP for contributing two thirds of the total cost to enable our children to experience such a wonderful show.

“I loved that cheeky mouse! He stole all the sugar!” Chloe

“I liked that show. I want to watch it again” Alfie

“Did you see it when that Little Boy Blue feel asleep and the sheep ran away!” Jamie

PE and Sports Apprentice Great Malvern Primary School (also part of Mercian Educational Trust) are looking to employ a PE and School Sports Apprentice for September 2019. If you know of any person, aged 17+ who may be interested, further information can be found at

FOSP will need lots of volunteers to help at each session.

Summer Fayre Planning continues for this year’s Summer Fayre 12-2pm on Saturday 13th July. We are looking for lots of volunteers to help on the day, setting up, manning stalls and clearing away. Please see the letters that came home in the book bags earlier this week.

In particular, FOSP is looking for raffle prizes for the grand draw. Do you work somewhere that could offer a gift voucher, free haircut, tea for two? Any donations gratefully received.

Hot weather reminder

Just a few reminders in anticipation of possible spells of warm weather:

Always send your child to school with a suitable hat that has your child’s name in it. There is little shade in the playgrounds at break times.

You may wish to put suitable sun cream on your child before they come to school.

Children should have a water bottle, with water in it, in addition they may have flavoured juice or squash in their lunchboxes or to accompany their hot lunch. Please make sure they have plenty to drink as the heat can make them very thirsty.

Careers Week Do you own a small business? Are you a mechanic or an engineer? Do you have a trade? If so, you may be able to help us… Our timetable is coming along nicely, but we’re still looking for volunteers to come into school to speak with our children about the job that they do. If you may be able to help during Careers Week, beginning the 17th June, please contact us via email at [email protected] with the subject line of Careers Week.

Class 3DR released the butterflies which have been grown in class.

INSET Day This coming Monday, 10th June is an INSET Day, where teachers will be working on assessment and reporting. School is closed to children, so we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, after your long weekend.

Have a lovely weekend.
