Prelude: “Coming Home” Cotter Shawn Portell, piano
WELCOME AND COMMUNITY LIFEAll are encouraged to sign and pass the Friendship Pads at the ends of the pews. As the music begins, let us use this time for quiet reflection and prayer, so that we, individually and as a great crowd of witnesses, may prepare ourselves to reaffirm our faith as the people of God.
GATHERING FOR GOD’S WORD
~White Americans are the largest racial group, at 49 percent of those that are homeless.~
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: God, who calls us by name; God, in whose image we are made.People: Come in from the cold; make your home in our hearts.Leader: God, who does not pass us by; God, who hears he cries of the poor.People: Come in from the cold; make your home in our hearts.Leader: God, who isn’t impressed by our savings, properties and pension plans.People: Come in from the cold; make your home in our hearts.Leader: God, who has given us unique talents and skill and gifts to share;People: Come in from the cold; make your home in our hearts.Leader: Jesus of no fixed address, come into this house, your home.
Take refuge and shelter with us here – your feet must be tired, your heart must be heavy. Sit down with us, Lord. Tell us your stories, open our eyes to you.
People: Come in from the cold; make your home in our hearts.
HYMN “Sing a New World Into Being” HYMN TO JOY (text by Mary Louise Bringle)
Sing a new world into being, sound a bold and hopeful theme.Find a tune for silent yearnings, lend your voice and dare to dream.Dream a church where all who worship find their lives and loves belong.
Sing a new world into being; sing as Christ inspires your song.
Sing a new world into being, where the homeless find a home.
2
Where no children ever hunger, but are filled with God’s shalom.Where all people work for justice, where all hate and vengeance cease.
Sing a new world into being, raise the harmonies of peace.
Sing a new world into being; join the ancient prophets’ cry.For a time of health and plenty, when all tears have been wiped dry.
When compassion flows like waters, pouring balm for all who grieve.Sing a new world into being, live the promise you believe.

Supporting Teens Who are Dealing with Homelessness – November 17, 2019
This year for our pre-Thanksgiving collection the Worship Arts committee is collaborating with our Mission Commission and Epworth Children & Family Services in supporting the youth served at Epworth’s Drop-In Center in Normandy. This center provides many services for youth experiencing homelessness, and we will be creating snack kits for them to share with their clients. Teens dealing with homelessness may be living on the streets, “couch surfing” at friends’ homes, sleeping in cars, staying in shelters, or anywhere that is classed as a non-permanent address. These teens are our sisters and brothers and need our attention, time, and help.
The Epworth Youth Drop-in Center in Normandy provides:
Laundry and shower facilities Safer sex kits and classes Nutrition, clothing, and hygiene items Common areas to safely hang out or sleep, play games, and watching TV Computer work stations Cooking instruction Access to community resources such as STI and HIV testing, healthcare, legal aid, and
documentation assistance Resource referrals and information Group sessions offering skills training, recreational activities, and support for LGBTQ
youth and allies
Between services today, snack kits were prepared with the items you’ve so graciously donated. For those who have brought items to Traditional Worship, those items will be donated to Epworth to continue this service project. Thank you for continuing to be the church.

WORD OF WELCOMECHILDREN ARE ALWAYS WELCOME IN WORSHIP AT WGPC! Worship Activity Bags are located at each entrance to the Sanctuary.
NURSERY CARE While some children prefer to stay with their parents in worship, others enjoy the opportunity to meet new friends, play and learn stories from the Bible. Mrs. Robin is ready to greet your child with a happy smile and a generous spirit. The nursery is open from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If there are no children in the nursery by 11:30 a.m., the nursery room will remain open for parents and children to enjoy together. There will be no nursery attendants on duty.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRIES Children and youth are not forgotten at WGPC! Classes, activities and fellowship opportunities designed with them in mind happen most Sunday evenings. Please refer to the calendar for ages and times, or contact Cherstin Byers at [email protected] for more information.
LARGE-PRINT BULLETINS AND HYMNALS, hearing devices, and cushions are also available. One of our ushers would be happy to assist you.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN THE FRIENDSHIP PADS located at the end of each pew.

WGPC Audit PerformedOn October 14, 2019 the board of trustees received the following financial opinion from the firm of Anders CPAs and Advisors: "In our opinion, the financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church as of December 31, 2018 and the changes in its net assets and its cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America." In other words, the results are "clean" which is what you want! Special thanks to Business Administrator Jan Scheuerer and financial assistant Joyce Kimmons for the many hours coordinating with the audit firm.
WGPC has been one of the last to offer a worship service on Thanksgiving Day. For those who participated, it was a nice centering time of gratitude to God for our blessings. However, worship attendance at that service has been declining for a number of years. We have reached the point where it is no longer good stewardship of resources to continue that service. This year, instead of a worship service held at church, we will provide a Thanksgiving liturgy for you to download and use at home.
