SolutionPack for EMC M&R Health This SolutionPack monitors the health of your EMCM&R infrastructure. Take advantage of this no-charge SolutionPack to keep the EMC M&R servicesperforming optimally, so you have instant access toperformance data and reports when you need it.

SolutionPack for EMC Network ConfigurationManager

This SolutionPack provides a wide spectrum ofreports regarding NCM application servers anddevice servers. You can quickly determineinventory and assets, compliance, and all changesbeing made to any NCM application servers.

SolutionPack for EMC Smarts This SolutionPack notifies your operators of real-time network events and displays the root causeand impact of the event. Historical event data isavailable as well. When the SolutionPack for EMCSmarts is configured to work with the ServiceAssurance Manager, the network operator can viewand manage notifications from the EMC M&ROperations interface.

SolutionPack for Ericsson eNodeB This SolutionPack is a mobile networkmanagement solution designed to generate reportsthat show key metrics and key performanceindicators (KPIs) for Ericsson eNodeB nodes.

SolutionPack for Ericsson IMS CSCF This SolutionPack monitors all signaling from end-users to services and other networks in the IPMultimedia Subsystem. It provides comprehensiveperformance information about CSCF

SolutionPack for Ericsson IMS TSP This SolutionPack monitors and collectsperformance measurement data, such as diskusage, IPv4 statistics, CPU load, cluster and systemuptime, and diameter related measurements.

SolutionPack for Microsoft System CenterOperations Manager (SCOM)

This SolutionPack provides an integratedexperience for the management of MicrosoftWindows systems and the discovery of theirworkloads across platforms in the data center.

SolutionPack for Microsoft SQL Server This SolutionPack provides the unified monitoringof Microsoft SQL databases using SQL queriestargeted at servers. It provides key information fordatabase administrators, such as server hostperformance, database availability, and deadlocks.

SolutionPack for MPLS This SolutionPack provides visibility into MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching) virtual privatenetworks (VPNs). It analyzes how MPLS VPNs areconfigured and utilized, from both a real-time andhistorical perspective.

SolutionPack for Optical WavelengthServices

This SolutionPack discovers and monitors TMF864-compliant Element Management Systems.

SolutionPack for Oracle Database This SolutionPack monitors the status andperformance of an Oracle database. TheSolutionPack gives visibility into listeners,tablespaces, versions, connections, commits androllbacks. You can survey the Oracle core process,such as the SGA, and verify the hit ratio aboutcache, dictionary cache, latch cache, library cache,sort and sessions.

SolutionPack for Oracle MySQL Database This SolutionPack provides managementcapabilities typically found in database-centrictools along with management support from othertechnologies. You can measure client activity byreporting on data from your database tieralongside your business logic and presentationtiers.

SolutionPack for Riverbed SteelHead This SolutionPack provides unified monitoring ofall Riverbed SteelHead appliances distributed in anetwork.

SolutionPack for Traffic Flows This SolutionPack provides reports that give you aclear understanding of your IT network traffic. Itgenerates network traffic reports that highlight KeyPerformance Indicators (such as Router CPU andProcessor Memory Used and the most activenetwork devices and applications) to help youbetter understand their impact on your Datacenternetwork.

SolutionPack for UPS This SolutionPack provides unified monitoring ofall the UPS devices distributed in the network. Itprovides key reports to help you manage theperformance and availability of your backup powersources.

SolutionPack for VMware vCenter This SolutionPack generates real-time andhistorical reports that help you understand VMwareperformance for VMware Hosts, Virtual Machines,virtual networks and DataStores.

Note

Earlier versions of the SolutionPack for Cisco Unified Communications Manager aredeprecated and replaced by the SolutionPack for Cisco Unified CommunicationsManager, version 2.1.

For Service Assurance Suite 9.4.1 releases onward, only the core EMC M&R platform plusthe network-related SolutionPacks are included in the EMC M&R executable file for 6.6u1and higher. Prior to Service Assurance Suite 9.4.1, the storage SolutionPacks for ViPRSRM were also included.

Customers who use ViPR SRM in addition to Service Assurance Suite will need to upgradeto the latest version of ViPR SRM to obtain the latest storage SolutionPacks. However, it isnot a requirement to upgrade as older storage SolutionPacks will work with ServiceAssurance Suite. The EMC M&R 6.6u2, 6.7, 6.7u1 Release Notes, ViPR SRM 4.0.1 ReleaseNotes, and Upgrade and migration overview for SolutionPack for EMC Smarts on page15 provide more information.

New features and enhancements applicable to all SolutionPacks for EMC M&R 6.7u1For the default navigation style, the Use tree navigation setting is recommended for theSolutionPacks for the 9.4.2 release.

New features and enhancements applicable to SolutionPack for EMC SmartsThese features and enhancements are available for the Presentation SAM server version9.4.2 and higher and EMC M&R 6.7u1 and higher. The SolutionPack for EMC Smarts must

also be upgraded to the latest version shipped with EMC M&R 6.7.u1 to get support forthese features.

l Topology map enhancements:

n You can print and export the Topology map in .PDF format.

n You can display a Smarts topology map using the entire frame of the browserdirectly from the map report view.

l You can right-click on any individual report in the mixed report view and display it in aseparate tab or browser window. Select the Open link in new tab or Open link in newwindow options.

l You can customize the tools that are available in the Notification view. The ServiceAssurance Suite How to Set Up SAM, M&R, and Smarts SolutionPack article providesinformation about customizing the tools.

l You can assign one or more roles to a new user. Each role can have a differentnotification list from a SAM profile assigned to it. The Service Assurance Suite How toSet Up SAM, M&R, and Smarts SolutionPack article provides information about usermanagement and how to set role restrictions for non-administrator users.

New features and enhancements applicable to SolutionPack for EMC NetworkConfiguration Manager

l During installation, polling periods under the Configure collector advanced settingshave been enhanced for Compliance data, Jobs data, Inventory data, and Historicaldata.

l As a post-installation task, you can change the variable status value to avoid staledata in NCM reports. Consult the Service Assurance Suite SolutionPack for EMC NetworkConfiguration Manager Summary Sheet article for this procedure.

l Reports:

n New or enhanced: Action Error Code, Change, Change Detail, DeploymentTopology, Device Compliance, Job Reporting, NCM Status, NCM Server Health,Number of Historical Jobs, Number of Interfaces in this NCM, Number of Devices inthis NCM (bar chart), and User Change Ratio Report & Config Change Distributionby Type.

n No longer available: NCM Database Ratio, System Heatmap (replaced by NCMServer Health report), User Dashboard (replaced by User report), Device Servers-Localized NCM, Number of Templates in this NCM, Operational Status Summary,Synchronization State Summary, Failed Jobs (last 30 days) (replaced by ActionError code report), Top 5 Config Type changes by user, and Top 10 changes byversion.

l Enhancements to the SQL Collector:

n Configurable polling period option is added for different collection buckets.

n Metrics loss has been avoided by having uniqueness criteria in the metricscollected.

n Cleaned up the sql-queries by removing the irrelevant properties.

n The device property’s impact on the licensing has been fixed.

n Active Jobs query has been altered by considering the Job Complete time.

n Active jobs metrics have been modified to consider the job status.

l Enhancement to the Remote shell collector: It has been modified to rename theavailability metric unit to % in place of load.

Updating the Event Property Tagger package prior to new SolutionPack for TrafficFlows installations and upgrades

Before installing or upgrading the SolutionPack for Traffic Flows, ensure that the event-property-tagger component is updated to version 3.0u2.

Perform this procedure after the EMC M&R platform is updated to 6.7u1.Procedure

The SAM server has now been enhanced topropagate the updates for the Notification List.

SASP-325 The default data directory that you accept during installation isnot created in a distributed system. When reconfiguring theSolutionPack on a virtual machine, the default data directoryis removed when empty.

SASP-350 If you specified a directory without the correct accesspermissions in which to move the processed performancefiles, the Stream collector throws an exception saying that thedirectory is not found. It should state that the directory doesnot have the right access permissions to perform the movepost processing action.

Make sure the apg user has read/write

permissions on the directory or if using anotheruser, make sure that user is in the same UNIXpermissions group as the apg user.

SASP-354 The report computation can take a considerable amount oftime.

Since the front-end server performs thecalculations, key performance indicators take along time to compute. For reports with a highnumber of KPIs, pre-compute and pre-aggregate toavoid this issue.

SASP-356 When you reconfigure the SolutionPack with the certificateoption on Windows EMC M&R platforms, source data files arenot written to the specified path. The Stream collector doesnot throw an error.

Known problems and limitations for SolutionPack for Microsoft SQL Server


SRS-20568 The Host Details table in the SQL Server InstanceOverview report does not display physical hosts.

There is no workaround available.

SRS-20567 Reports do not display data after upgrading to version3.7 of the SolutionPack.

The metrics and data have been normalized in version3.7 to be consistent with the other SolutionPacks. Oncethe new collection starts, data will get populated in thereports.

SRS-13047 The SQL Collector does not support SSL. SQL Servercollection uses the open source jTDS driver, which hasan inherent bug with SSL support (see http://sourceforge.net/p/jtds/bugs/725/).

There is no workaround available.

SolutionPack for Optical Wavelength Services

SIP Transaction: The Pause Duration field is the time delay betweenthe remote address sending the first OK message and the BYE message.

FTP Transaction: If the Upload a file Command Type is used, then

the Local File Name field is mandatory. Specify a local file to upload.

This supports a regular expression (regexp). If Command Type is

Retrieve File/Directory, then the Remote Target field is mandatory.Specify the resource on the remote FTP server for command execution.

Verify the Remote Target has enough space for the file or directory

that is being retrieved. MD5 Hash is optional. The value can bepopulated with the expected MD5 checksum value for the specified file.For Upload, the hash is calculated before uploading the file on the FTPserver. For Retrieve File/Directory over a single file, the checksum iscalculated once the file download completes. No hash validation isperformed on Retrieve File/Directory over a directory or during a Delete.Similarly to the hash attribute, the match attribute allows you to specifya regex to match against the content of a specified file.

SFTP Transaction: You can perform authentication by setting a

password in the configuration file or specifying a private-keyattribute to indicate the path to the file containing the private key usedto connect to the server. When using the private-key attribute, you canspecify a passphrase to decrypt ProcType: 4, ENCRYPTED,DES-CBC, DES-EDE3-CBC, AES-128-CBC, AES-192-CBC, and AES-256-CBC.

EMP-2121 Data collection is not running or does notstart and the latest reports are notavailable.

The file system where the EMC M&R platform is installed may be out ofspace. To check the file system utilization, do the following:Linux:

1. Run the #df -k command.

2. Check the available file system space for /opt/APG.

Windows:

l Check the available file system space by going to Start >

Computer.

Note

Always identify the SolutionPacks whose directories consume the mostspace and refer to their respective SolutionPack documentation to see ifyou can remove any logs or temporary data. Alternatively, you canincrease the size of the file system in which a SolutionPack is writingdata.
