new pattern Developmentto explore a pattern concept before commissioning a sample, we offer a variety of design tools. Starting with a sketch, we create a digital image to refine a motif. We then experiment with representing this motif in a pattern by considering the layout, scale and color. once a pattern is finalized, printing a full-size paper copy of the pattern allows evaluation of its impact on a piece of furniture or a vertical panel fabric or drape.

Thinking of a woven fabric? We will help you evaluate construction samples to consider the formal qualities involved. fiber types, yarn size, fabric weight and finished application are all factors.

Thinking of a printed fabric? Study the samples we’ve created for capriccio prints to determine the type of ground cloth you would like: options include natural fibers or inherently f/r polyesters, from whisper weight sheers to a panné chenille suitable for upholstery.

printed yardage to create a printed fabric in a new pattern, options include digital printing for a 20 yard minimum, screen printing for a 1 piece (55-60 yard) minimum or rotary printing for quantities over 225 yards. Working from one digital pattern file, we can help you evaluate which direction best suits your project.

DigiTal PrinTing allows for intricate color shifts and graphic effects that can be created on a computer and then transferred directly to a fabric surface. photo effects and unrestricted pattern repeats not possible with other techniques are exciting aspects of digital printing.

SCreen PrinTing allows for a handmade touch and is versatile in that the pattern can be printed on a variety of ground cloths of different colors or weights, whether natural or synthetic. inks for screen printing can be iridescent to create a metallic effect not possible with digital printing. pattern repeats can be full-width but are limited vertically to 40”.

rOTary PrinTing allows for a colorful, value priced fabric and is also available on a range of ground cloths. Samples generated from digital prints serve as guides for matching colors in the rotary process although abstract digital effects cannot be translated into the pattern layers required for rotary printing. pattern repeats can be full-width but are limited vertically to 36”.

Screen and digital printing offer the means for creating a unique fabric for small quantities not possible with woven constructions. Significant cost savings occur at 1,000 yards making all types of printed fabric a good value for large projects.

archive translationsfor historic projects, we can work directly from document designs to create fabrics that duplicate the integrity of the original concept. to maintain the aesthetic properties of a historic fabric, we offer reproductions woven in luxurious natural fibers such as silk, linen and wool. if performance requirements for a commercial setting dictate the fiber content, we offer fabrics in synthetic fibers to be inherently flame-retardant for drapery or strong enough to withstand heavy use for seating.

value interpretationsto address the range of cost considerations that occur within commercial projects, we offer value interpretations of our own designs. our skill in manipulating the design elements of a fabric allows us to create fabric options that achieve the same artistic quality and performance characteristics as the original, while reducing production costs when necessary.

companion Designsfor projects where continuity between materials is important, we can help you translate a design theme into multiple fabrics.

for the resort project shown below, we were able to consolidate production of several fabrics for the guest rooms through one mill. in addition to creating fabrics that complement each other, combining orders for several fabrics lowered the price points for each style. Working from the mill’s standard yarn color lines and avoiding custom dyeing allows each style to be re-ordered for a minimum of only 1 piece (50-55 yards) making future replacements easy and cost-effective.

Drapery Solutionsbecause drapery is often the medium for expressing a graphic concept in a commercial interior, it’s not always easy to find a stocked product with the attributes that match your project. With our ability to translate a concept into a pattern motif and tap into the production resources of an extensive network of mills, we can source fabrics to suit every application and price point.

Woven constructions involve a minimum of 500-1000 yards, depending on the width of the fabric (118” or 54”.) pattern repeats can be small-scale to full-width, and texture can be incorporated into woven fabrics even with sheer constructions. We can work within a mill’s standard color lines for yarns or offer custom colors. rely on our expertise to suggest the best solution to meet your project’s requirements – we know how to create beautiful drapery fabrics that are cost-effective and conform to the most stringent fire codes.

Drapery Solutions – printedfor smaller projects, printing is a wonderful way to achieve a distinctive pattern. Depending on your project’s budget and the quantity involved, we offer screen, digital, heat transfer, and rotary printing as a means of creating a patterned fabric. production minimums for new patterns vary from 20 to 225 yards depending on the method. Significant cost savings occur at 1,000 yards making printed fabrics a good value for large projects too.

Digital printing can also serve as a design tool for visualizing a woven fabric with a pattern repeat because of the immediacy of print production and the low cost of generating a sample.

panel concepts - Wovenlarge-scale design repeats can be tricky to realize as fabric panels but we offer a range of solutions for this type of project.

Starting with a concept sketch, we create a digital rendering to study the formal qualities you need to consider when planning a sequence of fabric panels in a room, whether as wrapped panels fixed to a wall or hanging loose as drapery. large-scale design concepts involve specific measurements and careful planning to ensure that the pattern will repeat consistently. you can rely on our ability to understand the context of the project and gather installation details so that the fabric you specify meets the correct dimensions, while performing within code.

our creativity is an important element too – we help you evaluate construction options so that the quality and color combination you select will be the perfect illustration of your design idea.

panel concepts - printedWhen you want a panel effect for a small project, we can help you create a printed fabric. With digital printing, there are no quantity minimums and the creative options are exciting too. patterns rendered digitally allow for intricate color shifts and graphic effects not possible with woven constructions. the character of the ground cloth adds another element to a printed pattern; with one print file, we can explore many variations by generating samples on a range of ground cloths.

imagining panel layouts is also easy when creating a digital pattern. We can configure a pattern so that the repeat spans multiple panels or we can print a sequence of color variations to create an ombré effect.

by no means are printed solutions limited to small quantities. Significant cost savings occur at 1,000 yards making printed fabrics a good value for large projects too.
