We have all had the experience of listening to a piece of music that

really stirs our hearts and minds. The music literally brings tears to our

eyes and joy to our hearts. There is a reason for this that goes back

through time to an earlier musical scale now referred to as the “Solfeggio

Frequencies“. This is a six note scale that bears some resemblance to our

modern seven note musical scale. When related to music, ‘Solfeggio’ is

referred to as the “ability to sight read music and sing the notes accurately

(pitch wise) without the use of a musical instrument’.

The solfeggio frequencies are reputed to be the original frequencies used by the Gregorian

Monks when they chanted. The chant, based on the six notes, penetrates deep into the conscious

and subconscious mind, drawing forth emotional reactions which we are sometimes unable to

completely control. Dr. Candice Pert, PhD, reinforces this observation stating, “Energy and

vibration go all the way to the molecular level. We have 70 different receptors on the molecules and

when vibration and frequency reaches that far they begin to vibrate”. These original frequencies

appear to have been ‘lost’ over the centuries with the introduction of various new tuning methods.

I use the term ‘lost’ in inverted comma’s because nothing is ever really lost. It is merely converted or

covered over with a layer of obfuscation. In his article on the solfeggio frequencies, David Hulse DD,

states:

Professor Willi Apel, wrote “The orgin of what is now called Solfeggio…arose

from a Medieval hymn to John the Baptist which has this peculiarity that the first

six lines of the music commenced respectively on the first six successive notes of

the scale, and thus the first syllable of each line was sung to a note one degree

higher that the first syllable of the line that preceded it. By degrees these syllables

became associated and identified with their respective notes and as each syllable

ended in a vowel, they were found to be peculiarly adapted for vocal use. Hence

“Ut” was artificially replaced by “Do.” Guido of Arezzo was the first to adopt them

in the 11th century, and Le Marie, a French musician of the 17th century added

“Si” for the seventh note of the scale, in order to complete the series.”

The solfeggio scale was ‘rediscovered’ by Dr Joseph Barber who claimed to have been guided

intuitively to find a pattern of six repeating codes in the Book of Numbers. He found in Chapter 7,

verses 12 through 83, number references that, when deciphered using a numerological technique,

could be reduced to a single digit. This revealed a series of six electromagnetic sound frequencies

which he determined to be the six missing tones of the ancient Solfeggio scale.

The notes in the scale are:

“UT” – which cycles at 396 Hz

“RE” – which cycles at 417 Hz

“MI” – which cycles at 528 Hz

Dr. Leonard Horowitz spent three years researching these six tones. He and Joseph Puleo

authored a book titled, “Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse”. In the book, Horowitz states

that the solfeggio frequencies are: “An extremely unique series of new Bible codes, reportedly

related to ancient music and the physics of creation, have been discovered by a physician from Clark

Fork, Idaho. The new revelation, found in the Book of Numbers, includes a mathematical

electromagnetic frequency code for “miracles” that experts say has already been shown to help

repair damaged DNA – the genetic blueprint of life.”

Even among ancient cultures, the power of sound waves was believed to have an effect on the human

body. Shaman usded chanting and drumming to focus their spiritual, mental and physical energies.

In short, they created and used sacred music to heal. Modern man, until recently, had forgotten about

the power of sound, that is until Drs Barber, Horowitz and Puleo ‘rediscovered’ it. Along with this

discovery, additional research conducted by Dr Horowitz claims to have uncovered three more

solfeggio frequencies. My research has not discovered any vocal tones for these three frequencies,

however, they are:

174 hz

285 hz

963 hz

Samples of the three ‘new’ frequencies:

Page 4: Solfeggio Frequencies and DNA

With the addition of these three frequencies, the solfeggio scale now has nine tones. These can be

represented as shown in the following diagram:

For those of you with a mathematical mind, you will already see the interrelationships between these

numbers. Intriguing, don’t you think? Another thought provoking idea currently being given voice is

the notion that matter does not really exist. Albert Einstein once stated: “Concerning matter, we

have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as

to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.”

In an earlier article, DNA Activation, I mentioned research being undertaken in Russia. To recap one

main point:

Russian scientists have discovered that: “Living chromosomes function just like a

holographic computer using endogenous DNA laser radiation.”

So, matter does not exist and DNA functions like a laser. Modern physics has also postulated that

DNA may function as a type of holographic projector which translates low vibrational state energy into

‘physical patterns’. These physical forms behave in a similar way to acoustic wave forms and as such

can be used as a means for decoding genetic information through sound. David Hulse is credited with

recognizing sound resonance as a basic principle of good health. He studied how certain sounds and

frequencies could activate DNA and discovered that biochemists use the 528Hz frequency of the

solfeggio scale to repair DNA.

Next time you are listenting to a particularly stirring piece of music, you will have to wonder, “Just

what is this doing to my insides?”

***UPDATE***

I checked the 528 Hz video. I used the NCH Tone Generator to compare the tone frequencies in the

video to the pure 528 Hz tone. I can now say that the 528 Hz tone is there as a subtle but effective

background tone. I can appreciate this as to listen to the pure tone for 5 minutes as in this video:

would drive you a little batty. I will leave the original video in place and for the purists among you,

enjoy the pure tone.

If my ear’s accurate (who knows), the 528 vid is actually playing a standard keyboard “C”,

which is not 528 but is 523. I’m enjoying this free iPhone app from the app store called

FreqGen which allows you to put in exact numeric frequencies and then turn them on (binaural

woot). I’m really curious how these tones relate to singing bowls…

would those side effects be?

Hi PsiWolf

Thanks for you comment. Interesting point about the effects on humans. From the research

I have undertaken so far, the effects observed have only been beneficial. I have not done

any research into the effects of frequencies other than those mentioned in the post above. It

Hello dear sound people,

I have studied and studied this Solfeggio thing for months. Still, I haven’t had evidence for this

numerologistic idea.. It’s beautiful series of numbers of course but I don’t see any relation to

frequencies. This Hz means one vibration per second, but what is second? A second doesn’t

really mean a thing and it hasn’t been possible to measure time in such a small units. Even

more impossible it is to make tuning forks only with plain ear to correspond to these specific

frequencies. Also there’s no link between these frequencies and geometry or Fibonacci series or

Phi.. And about 528 healing DNA- all the tracks lead only to Mr. Puleo & Horowitz. And all the

“evidence” everywhere refers only to those two gentleman. Isn’t this weird? They must’ve sold

millions of their books though.. But still, it’s great if those frequencies make people think to

achieve these great things as awakening DNA- it’ll certainly do that!!

But, the most interesting thing in these frequencies is: A small part, especially those “original”

frequencies, is heard by ear little bit similarly as overtone spectrum. It is not the real overtone

spectrum but it sounds like it. And I think this overtone spectrum is the true solfeggio sounds!

The spectrum is heardable in every musical sound and it consists of relations- and relations are

universal, the true sacred geometry! And of course this overtone spectrum is related to

Fibonacci series and Phi! The first overtone is 1f of the f basic tone, the second is 2f, 3f and so

on, it goes on eternally.. And there’s also “undertones” that are f/2, f/3 and so on. And I’ve

realized that THESE tones might be related to chakras- undertones refer to earth chakras and

the first 7 to our body chakras. There’s no specific frequencies- everybody can have their own

special frequencies and these overtones are just related to this own sound!! What do you think

of my idea? And also please, if u have some further info about Solfeggio scales, I’ll hear it with

great gratitude!

Reply

Shamhat, thanks for your comment. In response to your claim that all “evidence” only leads

back to Horowiz and Puelo, my article refers you to work undertaken by Dr. Candice Pert,

PhD, David Hulse DD, Professor Willi Apel and Dr Joseph Barber. At the bottom of the

article above the related posts, you will see links to additional articles that may be of use to

you.

I’m intrigued by your suggestion in relation to the ‘overtone of f’ and the ‘undertone of f’

having connection to the Fibonacci sequence and Phi as well as chakras. Please check my

articles on Kundalini Yoga, Chakras and 7 and Cymatics – Sacred Geometry – DNA. You

may also be interested in the comments and research undertaken by John Stuart Reid on

Thanks for dropping by and I hope to see you here again.

I have to play devil’s advocate, here. I have done some searching on these other-

than-Horowitz-and-Puelo researchers. I have found nothing that suggests they have

done any research on the 528 frequency’s effect on DNA. Pert talks about sound and

molecules, but mentions nothing of solfeggio in her books, CDs or website; Hulse, as a

Doctor of Divinity, is hardly qualified to speak of the scientific reality of such a thing;

Barber is a psychotherapist who mentions nothing of frequency on his own website;

and Apel is a music historian who really only points that the solfeggio frequencies have

changed. There is really no basis for knowing the actual frequencies that were originally

used unless some tuned bells or forks survived intact from the time period.

Reply

I realize this was posted a years ago, but this bugs me so much, I can’t help but post

a reply. The “research” done on this all falls back to Horowitz and it’s weak.

Horowitz relies entirely on the divine “revelations” of Puleo. Have you read their

book? I have. And I bought a Jewish Bible as well and tried to locate the

information that is “revealed” within it as described by Puleo. Apparently, according

to him, it doesn’t matter if you have an English version or one in ancient Hebrew or

if it is modern or ancient; it all reveals the same. I wanted to believe, I tried to

believe it, but their concepts are so wrought with ridiculousness, ANY book could

have been used. It’s just numerology used to postulate a pattern that randomly

appears. Millions of patterns randomly appear. So what? Once the supposed pattern

was discovered, Puleo just added 111 to it to get the other frequencies. What kind of

discovery is that?

I absolutely believe sound frequencies can heal us, but in several years, I have found

nothing to support the work of Horowitz and Puleo. Countless websites exist to sell

tuning forks or CDs using the “solfeggio frequencies” but they are believing

Horowitz without any outside evidence to support it. Unfortunately, this website

through this blog is doing the same. If I am wrong, and I would love to be wrong on

this, please provide one link to an independent, scientific white paper or similar

that supports the DNA work or any study being done with these frequencies in a

medical setting. Good luck with that.

A second is measured as part of a formula based on the cycles of the cesium 133 atom.

These are really great samples of the individual tones. Thank you for putting them all together!

In line with what Gail said, 528 Hz is closest to the frequecy of the C above middle-C, which is

523 Hz, and as the two frequencies are so close, it would take a good ear to be able to

distinguish that they are different – that 528 Hz is a little tiny bit sharper than 523 Hz – so they

would sound nearly the same to most listeners.

I have seen in other websites that 528 Hz supposedly corresponds to “Mi”, but I don’t

understand how this can be, unless “Do” would begin on Ab (because “Mi” is a major third

above “Do”). The “Do”, “Re”, “Mi”, etc. scale can have a flexible starting point (i.e., it doesn’t

always have to start on middle-C), but I would say that most people think of it as starting with

middle-C (one octave below 523 Hz). I think it really would be more accurate to call 528 Hz a

slightly sharp “Do” or, more precisely, a slightly sharp octave above what most people consider

the normal starting tone for “Do” in the “Do”, “Re”, “Mi” scale.

Thank you for this wonderful article. Working with the Solfeggio for the last 2 years I still have

many unanswered questions and often drive myself crazy trying to find the answers in a left

brained, logical type way. As a musician of many years I find trying to make the Solfeggio tones

part of our present musical system almost impossible. The “just intonation” of the Solfeggio

just doesn’t fit into the “equal intonation” of our present musical system. By retuning our

523.25 hz (C) to 528 hz (Solfeggio MI) it doesn’t give us the whole range of the Solfeggio – it

only gives us one note that is of divine frequency. Solfeggio is totally “out of the box” and we

must create a new system to use these tones which will be totally removed from the old.

I presently work with the whole 9 Divine Frequencies and their corresponding “mirrors”. We

then have a system which consists of 18 frequencies only – no octaves.

I am honored to have you as part of our network. The site presently contains the bear essentials

about the Solfeggio Frequencies. I wanted to create a network where enlightened musicians

and healers could discuss their experiences with these frequencies. There are many

unanswered questions regarding the Solfeggio – many of which even Dr Leonard Horowitz

cannot answer. I have been in email contact with him for sometime, but his actual knowledge

on the Solfeggio is limited. I wish to take it further – as a musician and healer – I feel I can.

Conspiracy Theories are not my game – even though I don’t deny they are not part of our

present reality – it’s just not my path. The Solfeggio is. I hope to have more time soon to devote

Thank you so much for your response. I am just so happy that others are interested in these

frequencies. Sometimes I just presume that everyone has a complete understanding of this

frequencies – but I am learning that this is not so. I guess being a musician for the first part of

my life and now a healer and therapist gives me added information that others not musically

inclined may not have.

Our present scale consists of 12 semitones. There is no pattern to them frequency wise. They

were created by the Catholic Church to disempower people. The original Solfeggio consisted of

6 tones supposedly, although I am sure at some point in history they were aware of the

complete circle of sound which consists of 9 divine frequencies. Mathematics and Music have

always gone hand in hand – so a correct musical system much obey mathematics. Solfeggio

does just this.

Our present musical scale does not – it’s pure madness. Solfeggio follows a pure pattern which

create a circle. When you reach the last note – numerlogically it progresses once again to the

first note. So there are no other notes accept the 9. One system claims there are mirror

frequencies – which I believe to be true. This also fits in with the whole system and works well

– so then there would be 18 notes. But this system doesn’t have octaves like our present system

– just pure notes – and only 18 of them. If we are to create a divine music here on earth we

must come out of the box and develop a new system – as these notes are not compatable with a

12 note system. I will try to upload a diagram which shows this – so bear with me. If not you

can find the information on my site. We would love to have you as a member.

This is not entirely accurate. There is quite a bit of pattern to music. The diatonic C scale

was originally derived from the Circle of 5ths, each interval a 3/2 ratio, then dropped or

raised an octave to arrive at the C scale. There are some mathematical problems when

changing keys, though, so the “Well-tempered” scales and ultimately the modern “even-

tempered” scale were developed to ease the transpositions to other keys. Musicians did this

because they wanted variety, not the Catholic church.

I am the developer of Cosmic Rhythm Attunements, a process to bring forth Optimum

Wellness by attuning to the planetary rhythm in a persons astrology birthchart. The

attunements are induced with planetary and solfeggio body tuners ( tuning forks ) at an

astrologically auspicious time.

The trinity of planetary tuners, solfeggio tuners, and astrological timing induces a deeper

attunement than using any one of these powerful modalities alone. Astrology provides a means

of determining the exact moment when the cosmos best supports the induction of a specific

Attunement. It clearly reveals when a particular cosmic gateway is open. Inducing the

Attunement during that cosmic opening gives more ‘oomph’ to the process, that my sensitive

The sacred solfeggio frequencies are a genuine godsend for softening the harsh energies of

Saturn, Mars, & Pluto for example and for strengthening any delilitated planet ( a debilitated

planet is a planet positioned ina sign that weakens it ). The solfeggio frequencies have added a

whole new dimension to my Comic Rhythm Attunement process.

Hello Timberwolf

I appreciated the article on Solfeggio frequencies very much and would like to know if there is

one CD I can purchase that has all the solfeggio sounds on it that you have presented in your on

line article “Solfeggio Frequencies and DNA”. I would be grateful for further information.

There appear to be a number of CDs that use the Solfeggio Frequencies. I found a number

of them on Amazon. They are:

I have always worked with sound throughout my life. I used to tune sound systems for optimal

performance, done live recordings, and I am a general music lover. So I have a good

understanding of sound and our present music system. The musical scale we have is a linear

scale with middle C (523.25hz) as a reference point. Doubling or halving any fundamental

frequency will create the octaves, 2nd 3rd 4th and so on. These octaves are important because

they are responsible for how a particular instrument sounds or how you hear music from

various points in a sound field or stage which gives us localization, ambiance, and presence. As

far as being a mathematical system the only common denominator is 2 or multiples of 2. The

Solfeggio frequencies looks like a purely mathematical system with only pure fundamental

frequencies. What interests me is the fact that it forms a complete circle instead of a flat line

that our present music scale has. I believe that these pure frequencies represent resonant

frequencies in our bodies, various organs and stimulate brain activity which is why I think they

have such a profound effect on our bodies. This subject definitely deserves more research, this

may be the future of medicine!

I have a bamboo flute that is tuned to an ancient oriential scale of six notes. Hmm.

The Solfeggio frequencies are truly wonderful. Try out the effect of listening to a selected one or

the six pure frequencies simultaneously. You can do it here:

Hi to fellow sound people

I have been working with the Solfeggio set of 9 tuning forks for over 18 months now. I have

shared them, and especially the 528 hz tuning fork, doing workshops, courses, fayres and

festivals with many many people now. I couple the 528 with the OM tuning fork and the results

are frankly amazing.

I use the Solfeggio 9 especially within my course where people spend a day using the tuning

forks and are able to release at a deep cellular level all that prevents their body from moving

forward. We then spend the following day releasing past lives, Karmic blocks and ancestral

memory patterns. The effects are deep and life changing for some – but remains very gentle.

I would love to know who else is doing what out there with them. There are some amazing

testimonials on my website from someone who is deaf and HEARD the tones and someone else

had pain relieved after one mini workshop session of 30 mins!! She did it for herself.

Thank you so much for this site and taking the time to share so much.

Hi again…

BTW I have made a CD in a sound studio, using the tuning forks, chime pipes and bars of the

Solfeggio 9, cosmic frequencies, planetary tones, Egyptian vibrations (which were ‘downloaded’

to me to have made into tuning forks last year – since then have worked in Egypt with them..

WOW), some flute and voice. I have called it Solfeggio Dream.

The first 6 tracks are all the sacred sounds and most people get to about track 2 or 3 and are in

alpha to theta state really quickly. Good for insomnia too. I love it because it is pure waves of

sounds and not generated by a machine. 5 of us who have benefited hugely from the sounds,

playing with love. I had ME, another has terminal cancer (diagnosed 2 and half years ago),

someone else fibromyalgia free, someone off some medication for BP and diabetes normal and

all have joy in sharing.

I believe Nikola Tesla and Albert Einstein eventually came to understood the power of

resonance; both the constructive and destructive powers. Sound can cure disease and sound

can inflict pain.

To no ones surprise the military has devised weapons to inflict the pain; see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_weapon.

If yin and yang truly coexist then sound is a means of healing as well.

Spoken back in the 1930′s was this quote. “Sound is the medicine of the future.” Edgar Cayce.

Revolutionary ideas are always met with initial and many times total resistance by skeptics

(a.k.a. usually scientists); however that does not mean the ideas are not valid and the ideas are

not sound; no pun intended.

At points in history many said there was no scientific proof the earth was round or rotated

around the sun. But yet there was scientific proof, it just hadn’t been uncovered yet.

Hi Sound warriors!

Great to discover this site Timberwolf- and read the comments too.Thank you for all the

knowledge and guidance….

I wanted to share my experience …

I’ve had M.E for 25 years and in a wheel chair, partly due also to my capacity to”have”

accidents.

I came across the SOLFEGGIO Frequencies on Youtube a year and a half ago and listened to

them regularly,on a intuitive basis.I then suffered a deeply traumatic, total immune system

breakdown!!! hell, but I’d also started to stand up to people, so “old” me was going through

quite a shock!

I now firmly believe that I really had to go through this for my greater healing…

It took me a long time to start listening again, but having had a persistent

ear infection for some months I researched and started listening to the DNA repair and Love

Frequency tones. I also found one for earache. Within two days , am glad to note intermittent

return of hearing to my left ear…

If anyone has any other advice, would be really grateful.

Debbi,I’d love to be in touch with you….? your work sounds great!

I’m a musician and songwriter two,of Indian origin and intend to explore the Tones within the

Indian Raga system too ….

In appreciation and love,

Pammy
