The role will be London based for an initial 3 month contract. The successful candidate will ideally have an excellent understanding of the Solaris Unix environment and be experienced using the command line. Extensive knowledge of standard system tools with the ability to use them to automate complex system tasks. Experience in a large network environments with good understanding of network fundamentals is essential as is knowledge of network file systems and storage options. The ideal Unix System Administrator will have: *Experience with Solaris (9 and above) to manage the Solaris estate *Experience with Hardware (Oracle SPARC/x86/Dell/HP) analysis to identify break-fix and install should the need require. *Experience with current versions of Debian and Ubuntu Linux is required as most projects are now using this. *A basic understanding of storage concepts. *Some Cisco IOS skills or and a firm understanding of network topologies and the OSI model. *Solid background in virtualisation KVM mainly, VMware knowledge also desirable. *Experience with the build, distribution, installation, and maintenance of Open Source tools.
