1 General

The following specification describes materials and the main production stages necessary to build a 19.25 m Solaris sailing yacht. This specification is only giving a general overview. Plans, materials, production and characteristics description can be seen and examined by the owner whenever he wants. The Solaris 62 RS is a cruiser racer, conceived for safe, fast and comfortable cruising on all seas. The concept of this yacht contains more than 35 year of experience of the yard, collected through the construction of more than 200 custom and semicustom yachts. Bill Trips waterlines are extremely competitive in racing, without giving up on safety and comfort combined with highest Serigi quality standards. The spacious engine compartment is strongly soundproofed. Beside the main engine, the generator, the air conditioning, all pumps, the water heater and the watermaker are placed in an orderly way and are easily accessible. The Solaris 62 RS has carefully designed standard layouts. Modifications could be considered with extra charges. All the measurements and the data provided in this specification are confirmed by the designers and they have been already verified on the other yachts. The dimensions have to be considered executive. Additional equipment can affect trim and displacement. The boatyard Se.Ri.Gi. guarantees an excellent consultation for choosing additional equipment with their specialist knowledge.

1.10 Insurance The builder will insure the yacht and all accessories supplied by the owner during the construction. The owner must insure the yacht at her delivery, ex works boatyard.

1.11 Accessibility for workmanship and cleaning All the various compartments and systems will be built in order to carry out the works and the maintenance service in a simple, efficient and quick way.

1.12 Weight and stability calculation The Builder will make and check the weight calculation. The total displacement will be calculated in the following condition: fully loaded ½ tanks. Transversal stability to be made in accordance with the CE rules ( MOC - Minimun Operation Condition ) to obtain the A class "Open Sea".

1.13 Trim The Builder reserves the right to add internal ballast to balance the yacht in the event of differences, both longitudinal and transversal.

1.14 Mast and rigging The Builder will check, with the Architect (Bill Tripp) and mast manufacturer, the proper dimensions for the mast and rigging. Sparcraft, as mast supplier, shall deliver a technical report of the dimensions. Plans will be shown to the owner during construction. Standard is a sloop 9/10 rigging with light alloy mast and boom and full-batten mainsail. The mainsheet on the 62 RS is hydraulic powered which is used and proven on larger yachts as well. The mainsheet system is hydraulically controlled directly from the cockpit. This gives the possibility to have a safe and tidy deck without the mainsheet winch and the traveller. This system can also be used with a furling mast or boom.

2 Construction

The used materials and construction methods are designed to construct a light, yet strong and stable hull, without affecting the strength and stiffness. Hulll and deck, as well as all other parts of the yacht, are designed to take high loads, providing maximum product durability. Hull and deck are constructed in a negative mould. All visible hull and deck surfaces are white in high quality white Gelcoat finish. Materials and construction are controlled by Italian Shipping Registry (R.I.N.A.). RINA is also approving the yachts construction before issuing the CE certificate.

2.1 Hull and deck • Hull and deck in sandwich construction (PVC Airex Core) of uni- and bidirectional fiberglass. • This kind of structure gives a light hull which is, however, far more resistant to dynamic

stress and is far more solid than a plain resinbonded laminate construction. • Airex core, an expanded closed-cell vinyl polychloride preventing moisture from expanding

into the construction in case of a damaged section. • High quality epoxy-vinylester marine resins and polyurethane varnishs are used. • Vacuum resin INFUSION is used for core lamination. • Carbon is used for areas which are exposed to higer loads, or single skin lamination as in the

keel area. • The strength of resinbonded laminates are conform to the designer's specifications and are

regularly controlled by their technical compartment. • The transversal and longitudinal reinforcements of the hull are made by vacuum infusion. • The saloon windows are built with a double-layer glass, chemically tempered and black

bordered, curved on a proper mould. • The waterline and the yacht's name are painted with polyurethane varnish. Colour and type

to be chosen by the owner. • Three coats of International or Veneziani antifouling. Colour to be chosen.

2.2 Ballast • The keel is designed and built for high speeds and guarantees performances and stability. • The keel ballast is made of lead /antimony. • The keel fin is made of a resinbonded steel construction, which is attached to the hull by

stainless steel bolts. • GRP layers on ballast surface for protection. Finishing with epoxy products.

2.3 Chain plates • The central chainplates are made in composite and are fixed into the strong superstructure

of the yacht. • The deck area around the mast and the chainplates will be reinforced with carbon. Where

needed, the sandwich core will be made in marine plywood instead of Airex core. • The aft chain plates are fixed to a composite reinforcement, well resinbonded to the hull

bottom and the deck. • All chainplates are sufficiently dimensioned, designed and inspected by naval architects.

2.4 Stays • The dimensions of all shrouds and stays are defined by naval architects according to their

working load.

2.5 Structural bulkheads • Forward, aft and main bulkheads to be in composite. All other bulkheads are in best quality

marine plywood in Burma teak finish. All bulkheads are laminated into the hull and deck. • Hull, deck and bulkhead joints are made in composite and GRP. • Sail locker bulkhead to be watertight.

Page 10: SOLARIS 62 RS - Bally Premium Yachts€¦ · SOLARIS 62 RS | Standard Specification SOLARIS 62 RS SOLARIS YACHTS Cantiere Se.Ri.Gi. di Aquileia S.r.l. Via Curiel, 49, I-33051 Aquileia

6

2.6 Mast step • The inox steel mast base is bedded on a GRP support which is connected to the stringers,

floor and bottom, well resinbonded to the yachts superstructure.

2.7 Access to the bilge • The tidy bilge is easily accessible.

2.8 Engine bed • The engine bed is made of mahogany, well resinbonded to the hull and to longitudinal and

transversal reinforcements.

2.9 Drain holes • The bilge drainage system is designed to get all water to the lowest level of the bilge in

order to discharge outboard.

2.10 Rudder • Balanced rudder in GRP-Airex core and the fin is resinbonded to the shaft with epoxy resin. • Carbon shaft.

2.11 Stern Garage • Stern garage with an electrical-hydraulic system, garage for dinghy stowage. Garage fitted

with a bathing ladder and a hot/cold water pressure shower.

3 Interior

3.1 General arrangements The interior layout is fix and is to be taken as standard.

• The boatyard is monitoring the optimum weight distribution. • Stowage is maximised by using all spare space. • The owner can choose wood and other materials, as options. The builder suggests high

quality Burma teak for the internal visible surfaces. • The builder recommends Kaya wood (African mahogany) for internal, non-visible surfaces. • Galley topsides are in corian or optional stone. Bathroom topsides are in wood or optional

corian. • High quality fabric is standard for all the seats. • Matt open pore polyurethan finish for all furniture. • All woodwork is carried out with the best nautical tradition. • Rounded edges for all hatches, bulkheads, seating, lockers, etc. • All the frames and the round edges are in massive teak. Where necessary handrails are

fixed. • The technical equipment is placed in the engine room. • Batteries are placed beneath the dinette seats. Switchboards are placed near the chart

table. • The yard counts on comfort and quality. Special care is given to soundproofing insulation. • Together with the high production quality, the clear, simple lines of the interior correspond

to the Solaris design, making a Solaris a unique yacht.
