Functioning of the system:

1. Works on both solar dc power (during the day) as well as single phase ac power (if

required at night) – selection can be done with the help of a switch

2. The controller can be used in one of the following three configurations

a. Run the motor-pump only

b. Run the motor- pump and charge a 40 ah 12/24 V battery simultaneously

c. Power any electric load (like fans and lights) up to 1000 w

3. The battery can be connected to the switch and hence, some lighting and electric

loads can be powered during the night time

4. Pump does not run on battery. It is powered directly from solar

Difference between solar pumping and traditional pumping:

1. Pumping head and water required per day should be determined : water required per

day can be determined by multiplying the present pump’s flow rate with the present

operating hours of the pump

Example: 5 hour operation at 5 liters per second = 90000 liters per day

(5hrs/dayx3600secs/hrx5liters/sec)

2. The same pump will have to be connected to different ratings of solar panels for

different outputs – 3600 Wp | 2400 Wp |1800 Wp | 900 Wp
