Solar Energy

This presentation demonstrates on

the innovative idea to use of solar

energy.

“I’d put my money on the sun and

solar energy. What a source ofpower! I hope we don’t have to wait‘til oil and coal run out before wetackle that.”

Solar Energy –a idea

• Solar energy is the ultimate Solar energy is theultimate source of energy from millions of yearsand it is a renewable energy.

•This energy consists of radiant light and heatenergy from the sun.

•Out of all energy emitted by sun only a small

fraction of energy is absorbed by the earth.

•Just this tiny fraction of the sun’s energy thathits the earth is enough to meet all our powerneeds.

•Using present solar techniques some of thesolar energy reaching the earth is utilized forgenerating electricity etc….

•Even then the energy demand met by usingsolar energy is very less.

Solar Energy – on Earth

The surface receives about 47% ofthe total solar energy that reaches

the Earth. Only this amount isusable

Solar Umbrella- Introduction

•The installations of panels can bemodified a umbrella structure.

•In this way it can be installed in anypublic places where required shadedarea.

•This umbrella used a solar panelwhich has a several advantages, andprovide a ample surface formounted the panels, its design toallow the exposure of sunlight andconveniently portable.

Solar Umbrella- Design

• Solar umbrella is a generalized ideaof a solar application, which haspowered by solar radiation.

• This umbrella used a solar panel &

provide a ample surface formounted the panels

• Its design to allow the exposure ofsunlight and conveniently portable.

• The solar powered umbrella has

providing shades for the usermaking outdoor experience moreenjoyable.

Solar Umbrella- Panels

• When solar panels are placed inthe sunlight , photons will strikethe surface and emits electrons.

• As a result electron hole pair is

created in the solar cell.• When external circuit is

connected to the solar cell ,electrons flow in the circuit andthe current is generated

Types of Solar Panels

Monocrystalline –

• Monocrystalline cells are madefrom a thin wafer cut from a singlelarge crystal of silicon.

•The cells are then doped and thefine current collecting wires printedon or in the surface of the cell.

•This type of cell takes more energyto make than any other, and so has a

greater energy payback period, though this is usually still within fiveyears

.

Polycrystalline -

• Polycrystalline cells are made from

thin wafers of silicon cut from a largecast billet.

•The billet is not a large singlecrystal, but many crystals clumpedtogether, hence the name

•Polycrystalline cells must havecurrent Collecting grids printed ontothem

•Polycrystalline cells are usuallyslightly less efficient thanmonocrystalline cells, but becausethey are square, can be fitted intothe rectangular frame of a solarpanel with high space efficiency

Amorphous –

• Amorphous thin film panels involvedeposition of very thin films of

silicon or other materials directlyonto a substrate such as glass orstainless steel.

•This technique produces a cell witha lower efficiency than the cut wafer

varieties, but has the advantage ofeliminating the need for inter-cellconnections.

•Uni-Solar makes triple-junction ,nine-layer thin-film amorphouspanels with a much higher efficiency

than the older types.•The layers of silicon are depositeddirectly onto a stainless steelsubstrate and are then coated in aflexible plastic protective layer.
