Describtive

Sokoliman megalithic site is a megalithic sites or ancient tomb

that is in two areas in Gunung Kidul , areas and regions

Sokoliman Gunungbang . Sokoliman megalithic site located in

the hamlet Sokoliman , Bejiharjo Village , District Karangmojo ,

Gunungkidul , Yogyakarta .

Around Sokoliman also contained some white or lime stone

statue that resembles his feature statues of Shiva – Buddhist

civilization era . Each year after each harvest , the community held a

ritual clean village or neighborhood clean times in this statue . This

hamlet Net aims to give thanks for the abundant harvest . People here also helps keep the existence of this site , then do not be surprised if the people here are very friendly if you visit this site .

The site is formed in a period prehistoric menhirs ,

fragments menhirs and stone tomb walls . In the past megalithic , menhir embodies public figures who have died and the media worship of ancestral

spirits . Sokoliman megalithic cultures have distinctive mainly on menhirnya , ie at the top of the carved human faces .

Menhir found in Sokoliman terrain . The stone shrine

expected people at that time and a symbol of power or specific events , such as war . Number of stones pretty much around 140 pieces . Five are larger than others , and this is called Saka meaning Five pole number five and is considered as the origin of the name Sokoliman .

Not only age megalithic stones that exist in this area.But there is also a skeleton found at a depth of 80 cm with the provision of grave some iron tools such as sickles . In order to actually find one iron sword has broken his left hand held , while the sword itself is attached traces of coarse weave .

There are also other findings in the form of a bronzering and a bowl terracotta ( earthenware ) . There are also grave stone coffin containing three people were heaped in a supine position with head to the north . Three pieces of iron objects located above the upper chest frame ,copper rings , iron knives , and a few scattered beads in between the frame .
