/ OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:\
To select, in the Mediterranean region, fiducialreference stations and well established tidegauges and to provide GPS links between thefiducial stations and the tide gauges;
To improve GPS measurement procedures byusing Water Vapor Radiometers to reducevertical uncertainties to 1 cm for baselinesgreater than 100 km;
To perform measurements of absolute-g bothat fiducial sites and tide gauge to monitor, withan independent system, vertical surfaceelevation changes;
To perform, in selected areas of theMediterranean basin, observations of geologicsea level markers of the past;
To collect, analyze and interpret tide gaugedata;
ro develop realistic models for tidal loadingand tectonics in the Mediterranean region;
F define corrections for the Earth’s surfacedeformation due to exogenic causes and tostudy long-term variability of relative sea level.
