Douglas Fir We specialize in the appearance grades of Douglas Fir, selected from older, slow-growth timbers. Doug Fir is distinguished by its handsome and remarkably straight grain patterns and rosy hue. Moisture levels are carefully controlled in the premium grades to ensure dimensional stability for furniture and cabinet-makers and for architectural millwork. Sizes 4/4 thru 16/4. Widths: 2” thru 12” Timbers & Beams available by Special Request! S4S (Surfaced 4 Sides) Clear Vertical Grain fir from new growth or fast growth trees. Contains larger and fewer growth rings per inch, and the appearance will be wider lines, but generally straight. C&Btr Mixed Grain A combination of Vertical Grain (straight grain) and Flat Grain which produces cathedrals and a rotary grain appearance. Clear and nearly clear Douglas Fir is produced from less abundant, long-rotation, managed western forests. Softwood Selection Western Red Cedar Beautiful, durable and free of pitch and resin, Western Red Cedar is an excellent choice for indoor and outdoor applications. Ideal for doors and windows, millwork and moulding, and high-end exteriors such as gates and garage doors. Heartwood ranges from dark red-brown to pink, sapwood is yellow. Sizes 4/4 thru 16/4. Widths: 2” thru 12” Timbers & Beams available by Special Request! C&Better Mixed Grain Varying amounts of straight grain (VG) and Flat grain are the result of an efficient and cost-effective cutting method. Some boards will exhibit cathedral grain patterns. #2 Export Grade Clear Vertical Grain, this is the highest grade quality available. Pieces are free from growth characteristics that affect appearance or performance. Knotty (Select Tight Knots) For a rustic aesthetic, “STK” performs like vertical grain and offers significant savings. Naturally decay and weather-resistant,Western Red Cedar is abundant, renewable and comes from properly managed timberlands. Industrials Our DPO (D-&-Better Pullout) surpasses most moulding- grade offerings. You will achieve higher yields because ours has no wane and is produced in fixed widths 85/15 Vertical Grain Old Growth lumber will average a minimum of 6 to 8 growth rings per inch on either end the board. The appearance will be close-set lines on the faces, and these boards are the most dimensionally stable. 15809 Strathern St. Van Nuys, CA 91406 (818)786-5800 Fax(818)786-5801 [email protected] www.valencialumber.com

RedwoodOur architectural grades of Redwood exhibit the highest standards for color, grain and dimensional stability. These are the ideal choices for sash-and-door, trimwork, cabinetry, and siding/paneling. The heartwood of Redwood is naturally insect- and decay-resistant. Lightweight and soft, redwood is exceptionally stable, with very little shrinkage or seasonal movement.

Clear All HeartThis is king of Redwood, the highest architectural grade. Free of knots, consistent color (no sapwood) and grain. Perfect for all indoor applications, and sought after for high-end exterior use (hot tubs, decking, trellis and garden structures).

B GradeOffers the best value, with most knots on the back side. Just right in a one-sided application.

Clear AYE With more visual character than Clear All Heart, due to varying amounts of lighter sapwood, Clear Aye can be used in all of the same applications. A considerably less expensive option with the added benefit of contrasting color and personality.

Con Heart/Deck HeartHeartwood without the perfection of Clear All Heart, Con Heart is used for decks & stairs, posts, planters, and other exterior applications, especially in contact with the ground. Permissible imperfections include knots of various sizes.

Sugar PineSugar Pine is a member of the White Pine group, marked by its consistent white color due to gradual transition from earlywood to latewood. This soft pine species also produces a more even grain than do the hard pines and offers excellent dimensional stability. Mixed SPF options offer economy and utility where appearance is less important.

#2 Common (Knotty)The sound tight knots of #2 common lend character to this pine grade. It is suitable for almost all applications including paneling and siding, shelving and general uses for a more rustic/natural look.

Moulding & BetterThe most economical choice, this includes 1x3 Studio Pack. Narrow and long strips can be produced for mouldings or other applications. It will have some wane, checks and imperfections, acceptable in this grade.

Clear Pine The correct grade for all finishing needs, Clear Pine is the most versatile and easiest to work with. Clear logs from open-grown pines provide exceptionally wide, white boards due to a preponderance of sapwood.

All of our redwood grades are kiln-dried, including Con Heart

Sugar Pine is the largest of all species of pine, attaining heights of over 200 feet. Its sheer size, coupled with its thick and massive branches, lead people to call it the

most majestic of the pines.
