Software benefits are offered to members of the Symantec Partner Program at no charge and are accessible via the benefits pages of PartnerNet.1 The number of software licences available depends on the Partner type and Program level.

There are three Software Benefit Programs:

Evaluation Software may be used to run an evaluation

or demonstration at an end user customer site. Where

possible, each serial number can generate up to 30

unique, temporary (60-day) license keys.

Internal Licenses may be used by partners within their

business operation, providing the opportunity to use

the products on a day-to-day basis on their production

network. They can also be used in training facilities,

briefing centers, and for customer demonstration

purposes. Internal Licenses are valid for twelve months

and include Basic Maintenance.

Not for Resale (NFR) licenses may be used in

training facilities, briefing centers, and for customer

demonstration purposes. Licenses are valid for twelve

months and may not legally be used on internal

production networks.

Please note: When a product is available under both the

Internal Licenses and the Evaluation Software programs,

it will not be made available through the NFR program.

Ordering and Delivery

Ordering

Online request forms for the software benefits, along

with the full list of available products, are available on

the Benefits page of PartnerNet1 in the Your Partner

Program area.

Order Confirmation

Once an online form has been submitted successfully,

an Order ID is displayed as confirmation.

The Partner Program administrator will notify you by

email when the order has been approved, and again

when the order has been processed. Both notices will

contain your Order ID for easy reference.

Delivery

Depending on the product, software ordered through

these benefit programs is either delivered as a media

kit (CD) or via download from the Symantec download

portal, FileConnect.

Media Kit Delivery

Where a product is delivered as a media kit (CD),

it is sent to the “Ship To” address provided on the

request form.

Email Delivery

Where possible, License Certificates are delivered by

email as a PDF document containing a serial number and

URL for the Symantec Licensing Portal. This email is

sent from [email protected].

The License Certificate contains a serial number that

can be used to download product and activation keys

as described in this guide.

Please note that, in some countries, the law requires the

License Certificate be sent as a paper certificate through

the post. Some products are not provided as a download

for legal or technical reasons.

Downloading Software

When a License Certificate is delivered, it contains a

serial number for each product ordered (as required).

The serial number can be used to download software

from FileConnect and license keys from the Symantec

Licensing Portal.

FileConnect allows downloads of serialized software

and can be accessed from the Symantec Licensing

Portal. In FileConnect, select the language you prefer

and enter the serial number from your product License

Certificate.

Downloading files from FileConnect

1. Accept the on-line End User Agreement.

2. Select the product and language you wish to

download by clicking on the product name.

3. Select the Download Method either HTTP download

or Managed FTP Download.

4. Select the file, then click Download.

License Certificates received for software in any of

the benefit programs contain serial numbers that

are required to register the product and receive a

license key. To do this, you will need an account in

the Symantec Licensing Portal.

Setting up a Licensing Portal account

To set up an account, either enter your PartnerNet user

name and password and select login, or select Create

an Account in the New User? section of the Licensing

Portal home page. Then, submit the account creation

form and agree to the online user agreement. A screen

verifying that the account has been created will be

displayed and you will also receive a confirmation email.

Obtaining a License Key

1. On the Symantec Licensing Portal home page, click

New Purchase.

2. Type a valid serial number from your License

Certificate and click Submit.

Note that serial numbers are case sensitive and

some serial numbers must be registered individually.

The Licensing portal will guide you though the steps

to enter your numbers.

3. The serial number will appear in a list at the bottom

of the page.

4. (Optional) To submit an additional serial number,

type the serial number, and then click Add. The serial

number is added to the list at the bottom of the page.

5. When you have no more serial numbers to add,

click Next.

6. On the License Registration Verification page,

verify that all of the information is correct. To make

changes or add information to a section, click Edit.

7. If you have no further information to add, click

Complete Registration. Your serial numbers

and license keys appear on the License Key

Confirmation page.

8. If your product requires a Symantec License file

(.slf file), click the license key file name to download

the file.

9. (Optional) To download the software, click Get

Software. This will take you to the FileConnect

portal as described earlier in this guide.
