HistoryIt started with a bicycle handlebar in 1946 when Jeremy’s father, Gerald, founded the GB Cycle Company. Spotting a growth opportunity, he soon steered the company towards the burgeoning contract furniture market, adapting the bending, welding and aluminium finishing expertise of the company to the design and manufacture of quality conference and banqueting furniture. And the rest, as they say, is history...

Burgess Furniture were the very first European manufacturers of the aluminium stacking banquet chair! That was our first innovation and since then we have continued to be at the forefront of the ideas that have helped set the industry standards. The nylon flock coated banquet table, the versatile easy to store, flip-top conference table, ergonomics excellence awards for our Allday™ and Orvia chair designs and a design excellence award for our Flair conference chair are just some examples of the standards of excellence that Burgess Furniture has achieved.

Listening to our customers’ needs and then working together to create bespoke design solutions has always been key to our success. The company has established an industry wide reputation as an innovator, a great example of which is the development of the Allday™ ranges of chairs, ensuring that the user can be comfortable from early morning to last thing at night. One of our newest chairs, The Mendola, incorporates the patented ProBax® Seating Technology is the latest addition to the Burgess Ergonomic Chair Range. We are very proud of the fact that our products are still designed and more importantly, manufactured on site in the UK, where everything started all those years ago. We use our own special and unique grade Aluminium Alloy, which ensures our chairs are as strong as Steel but also as light as possible.

Table System

The unique Meet-U® table system features a ‘tool-free’ design of linking fixed tables and bridging tops that ingeniously facilitates different table configurations. An integral rotating corner plate, neatly concealed within the frame, supports bridge tops on two adjacent sides of the table simultaneously. A simple method of extending layouts, bridging tops enhance the sleek and clean design and minimise the number of table legs, allowing more people to sit comfortably.

Meet-U® is very easy and quick to assemble and reconfigure. No tooling is required for assembly, apart from the supplied 4mm Allen key. The bridging pieces are also very simple and compact to store when not in use, making the system ideal for environments with changing tabling needs.

The aesthetic design centres on a shadow line along the structure and down the legs.The features are enhanced by the wide variety of finishes and combinations. A neatly formed channel on the underside of the table allows the insertion of a multi-function clip that can be used to secure and support a modesty panel, link tables together and support power cables as a ‘cable tidy’. Each table has adjustable levelling legs to ensure stability on any floor surface, and optional castors can be fitted for easy movement. Meet-U® tables are also available with a range of power and data connectivity options.

Carefully designed with the user in mind, a variety of top shapes including rectangles, squares, triangles and quadrants, link together to form the perfect layout. The versatility of the Meet-U® system means that it is ideally suited to the boardroom, meeting, training and conference room. The wide range of configurations, including the horseshoe, octagonal, rectangular and square, facilitates every type of meeting scenario.

The Meet-U® design incorporates a choice of high pressure laminate tops. The frames and legs are constructed of aluminium, which is 95% recyclable, light weight and easily moved.
