Sofia Carmina Coppola was born on May 14th 1971 in New York, she is an American screenwriter, producer, actress, model and director. She directed her fist short film ‘Lick the Star’ in 1998 and her first feature film ‘The Virgin Suicides’ in 1999.

A lot of Sofia Coppola’s films are written and produced by her.

In ‘Virgin Suicides’, the first feature length film Sofia wrote and directed was actually produced by her farther Francis Ford Coppola.

A lot of Sofia’s films are Dramas but she has worked in many different sub-genres, including Historical drama and Comedy-drama.

Filmmaking

Coppola’s first feature film ‘The Virgin Suicides’ was first premiered at the 2000 Sundance film festival and was released later that year.

For her second film ‘Lost in Translation’ she won an Academy Award for her original screenplay and three Golden Globe Awards.
