1. INTRODUCTION
S.O.D. stands for Secure Online Desktop. It 's a system that marries thin client technology with
cloud computing technology and public key cryptography to provide a desktop computer on the
Internet in a secure manner. With SOD, you'll have a data center to run your software using the
computing resources of many computers. The users of your company will no longer need a
computer to perform their work but with SOD will have a thin client that provides access to a
Datacenter use their software with high performance. SOD provides an alternative to desktop
computers, has no impact on servers and network devices in your company.
2. INSTALLATION
After removing the thin client from the package perform the following steps:
• Connect the thin client devices to receive input and output of their equipment as a mouse,
keyboard and monitor (not included in the solution).
• Connect the Ethernet network cable to the Ethernet card on the back of the thin client.
• Connect the power cable to the mains.
3. INITIAL SETUP
Follow these steps:
1. Enter the access token into a USB port on the thin client. It’s best to use one of the two
USB ports on the front panel for convenience.
2. Turn on the Thin Client using the power button on the front panel. A beep will indicate
the power status.
3. Log on by using the following credentials:
username = user
password = sod
Note. Use the arrow keys to select the user user.
4. Change the default password by selecting through Change Password utility.
5. Log in SOD applications. Enter your login credentials (username / password) received in
the mail and press "Connect".

Note. If Internet access is conveyed by the use of a proxy, enter the access parameters in the
panel "Connection Properties -> Network.
6. Change default password for the applications:
a. Select the utility “Change application password”
b. Double click on application and insert the new password in “New Password”
field. Re-type the password in the “Confirm New Password” field. Press OK
button.

The password must meet the following prerequisites:
• Contain alphanumeric characters;
• Contain at least one special symbol (?*+[]@#-_=);
• Be longer than 8 characters;
• Not contain parts of the user name;
• Do not be equal to the last 5 Passwords.
If the password entered meets the minimum criteria of safety, the password
change operation is completed successfully and will receive the following
message:

7. Double click on “PGP – Active secure disk” utility.
Premere il bottone Yes
Select “New PGP Key” from File menu.

Press Next.
Enter the full name (eg John Smith) in the first box and your mail (es. [email protected]).
Important. The name and address must match those submitted to the Secure Online Desktop.

Enter the password in the first box that will be used to access your encrypted disk. Confirm the
password entered by typing it again in the second frame.

You will receive an email at the above address. Confirm the keys generated by following the link
provided in the email.

Follow the instructions and press “Done”.
At this point, the technicians will ensure to encrypt a portion of the disk with the encryption keys
you created and to communicate the fact of disk encryption to the user. The procedure will be
completed within two working days from the time when the user completes the process of
generation and verification of cryptographic keys during this time you can still use the service.
4. USING ACCESS TOKEN
The access token is used to allow access to the SOD system trhough the thin client. The token
must be inserted into a USB port before turning on the thin client and must be removed after the
thin client has been turned off.
Safety Regulations:
Keep the access token in a safe place when not in use. For example, it may be convenient to keep
it in your keychain.
Removed when you leave the station for an extended period.
5. USING PEN DRIVER
It is possible to connect USB pen drive or hard disk to the thin client to copy their documents
and files to upload into the SOD system. Once the device is connected to a USB port that is not
dealt with the thin clients will be able to view the documents using the File Manager utility.

Click on File Manager icon as shown in the below picture.

The USB device will appear in the device list, execute a click on the name to access the device.
After using the device and before removing it from the thin client must perform the removal
procedure to ensure that the data do not suffer damage. Perform a right click on the device name
and select "Unmount Volume ".
To get good performance and do not lose your data, you must copy the files from the USB
device on your disk before using them.
To copy data from USB device on your disk start the Explorer utility.

Access the volume inside the directory “media”.
Right click and select “Copy”

Access the encrypted disk.
Right click and select “Paste”.
