Dear Readers, In this third issue of the year, we would like to highlight the annual World Parkinson Day. This year 2017 celebrates 200 years since Dr. James Parkinson’s first clinical description of Parkinson’s disease in 1817: An essay on the shaking palsy. Dr. Ellen Gelpi kindly sent us a summary of publications and events held in the light of this celebration. The Euro- CNS course on muscle and peripher- al nerve pathology was held success- fully in Aachen in March. The host organizer, Prof. Joachim Weis, sent us a short report, illustrated by photos of the participants and faculty. Lastly, Euro-CNS is calling for applicants for the European Fellowship Train- ing Award, and for candidates for the Clinical Neuropathology, Vol. 36 – No. 3/2017, p 156 Euro-CNS News Report Euro-CNS Muscle and Nerve Pathology course The 5 th Euro-CNS Muscle and Nerve Pathology CME course took place in Aachen, Germany, on March 22 – 24, 2017. The course dinner took place in the historic Aachen City Hall, a site that was used centuries ago already by the German kings to dine after their coronation ceremonies.

is now 20 years ago that the link of PD

and Lewy bod-ies was dis-covered.

Neuropathology vacancyA neuropathologist is needed for

the Pathology Department of the Hospital Universitario Araba, in Vi-toria-Gasteiz (Spain), to attend the Brain Biobank (BIOEF), created in 2010, with large volume of neuro-degenerative diseases, muscle and nerve samples, and CNS tumors. It has its own laboratory and staff. It is a reference center for prion diseases in the Basque Country and Biobank for Alava and Bizkaia. Call for applicants European Fellowship Training (scholarship)

The Euro-CNS Fellowship Train-ing program is intended to facilitate short (maximum 2 months) diagnos-tic training opportunities in either Tumor or Muscle and Nerve pathol-ogy for trainees in neuropathology. The individual training plan for each Fellow appointed to the scheme will reflect the skills and knowledge that are required by the home Institution and which can be implemented upon the trainee’s return.
