Lesson Plan-1 st Term Social Studies Presentation On the board are listed the first letters of various department names in Colombia. Teacher will ask students to go to the board and write the correct Department name underneath the letters. Afterwards, the teacher will ask the students to guess the theme of the first term. For example….A department starting with the letter V (Vichada) Practice 1) Introduction – The teacher explains the objective is students will be able to identify the location of Colombia. Teacher presents a map of the departments and surrounding countries of Colombia. Teacher asks the students question about the map. a. How many departments are in Colombia? b. Point to a department in the east, north, south, etc. c. Has any been to a department and would like to share about it? 2) Modeling a. T will give S pieces of paper with certain department names on them from the north, west, east, and south. Students will attach department names on the map. T will ask S to identify the countries surrounding Colombia. b. Teacher asks the following questions i. Where is Panama? Panama is northwest of Colombia. ii. Where is Venezuela? Venezuela is east of Colombia iii. Where is Peru? Peru is south of Colombia iv. Where is Ecuador? It is southwest of Colombia. v. Where is Brazil? It is southeast of Colombia. c. The students copy the lesson that is on the board in their notebooks. Production 1) Students will fill out a map with the correct departments and countries surrounding Colombia.
