Social Media User Types Wall Monitors Obsessed with increasing number of followers , fans, friends Checks Klout score regularly Searching for ways to get to the next level (of Foursquare, Farmville, etc.) Think of social media as more of a computer game (gaining “points”) and have no intention of ever meeting most people in person Fan-Addicts Work to incorporate social media with existing programs, events, campaigns so that they will become greater Constantly striving to keep up with all forms of social media, including the latest and greatest Being so in touch, run the risk of over- connectedness and addiction IT Skills Pony Express-ives Have multiple accounts on the same network(s) because forgot they created one a year or so ago – don’t remember how to access the previous one Ignorant of the personal nature of social media and when they finally join, have assistant or intern craft intermittent messages under their name (without seeing them) TMIers Don’t realize how many people have silently blocked (or just bemoan) their numerous postings about every detail of today’s meals, the weather, their job, nap, kids, pets, shower, etc. May not be aware that they have been unfriended or blocked from posting to others’ walls/sites Social Skills © By Bilou Enterprises
