Protect Your Password
• Don't share your password
• Don't make your password too easy
• Keep it in a secret place
"Checker" Friend
• To stay safe and smart on Facebook, have someone help you out
• This could be a friend, a brother or sister, or a parent
• If you would like a "checker" friend, let us know!
Privacy Settings
• Without privacy settings, everyone can see your personal stuff
• Have someone you trust help you set your privacy settings
• Check your privacy settings every 3 months
• Set privacy to "friends only"
Be Responsible
• Don't let Facebook take over your life!
• Turn off your phone or computer at night so you get enough sleep
• Make sure you go out with your friends
Say "No"
• Make sure you know someone in real life before being their friend on Facebook
• If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, un-friend them on Facebook
• Don't send friend requests to people you don't know
Don't Click Too Quickly
• Don't click on anything that you are not sure about
• Don't click on popup windows
• Turn off your computer right away if you can't control the screen
Pause Before Posting
• Don't post anything you wouldn't want the world to see
• If you are angry, wait before posting or sending an email
• If people are mean, don't respond on Facebook.
• Talk to people in person
Some Things Should Be Private
• Don't put your address or phone number on your Facebook information page
• Don't post credit card or social insurance numbers
• Anything you share on Facebook can be shared with the world
