It has become a popular pastime and can be lucrative for those who are in the business of catering to crafters. A trendy new move for crafters is renting a house with accommodations for a group of crafters to have a crafting retreat. Tranquil Retreats is an organization that provides such a location. Introduction Designed mainly for crafting retreats, but also able to accommodate a wide variety of other events, Tranquil Retreats provides a location away from the busy city where groups can work in a quiet and tranquil place for scrapbooking, quilting, or crafting. Tranquil Retreats is a new up and coming business that could greatly benefit from adding social media to their marketing plan since they currently only have a website. Since they are just starting out, expanding their social media outlets will provide them a greater audience, thus increasing their product awareness. Tranquil Retreats existing website is not set up for social media. It does not offer ways for visitors to interact, share, or collaborate.

Tranquil Retreats is in the process of setting up a Facebook page. Discussions with the owner indicate they will be offering content relevant to their target market and goals.

Strategy

A strategy for their existing Website

The suggested strategy for optimizing Tranquil Retreats’ existing website will be to add a blog (either on the side of an existing page or on a separate tab altogether), place social bookmarking buttons from addtoany.com, and place widgets and badges highlighting the other places you are in the Social Web.

A strategy for improving existing sites

Since Tranquil Retreats is in the process of creating a Facebook page, the first plan of attack for improving and optimizing the existing website will be to place a widget on your web page letting people know about your Facebook page.

Social media tools strategy

The social media strategy I recommend for Tranquil Retreats begins by completing your Facebook page. Once this is done, I suggest you create a blog at WordPress.com. Since Tranquil Retreats is limited to the number of pages the website currently uses, WordPress could benefit your organization by offering a place where you and others can blog about you and your services. Next, tweet about it. By creating a Twitter account, you can share bits of information about your company and your followers can find out your latest specials. Then you can get LinkedIn. This will allow you to connect to the world’s largest professional network on the Internet. Next you could think about creating a YouTube account. Here you could provide a video walkthrough of your property. Then you can make your website Delicious and Digg it! These two social media networks will allow people to link your website to others and share content from anywhere on the web. Finally, advertise your Grand Opening on Eventbrite which enables you to spread the word via social media.

In conclusion, I would like to recommend a complete revamp of your current website; however, before doing this, I would like to recommend we meet to discuss a social media-specific marketing campaign
