The School of the Apostolic Church is providing a series of seminars hosted by Dr. Simon Mould that seeks to introduce students to an overview of history, worldview and current events that will enable them to lead the church to fulfill its apostolic and prophetic calling to bring reformation to the 21st Century.

Available Seminars Old Testament History: The grand narrative revealing the sovereignty of God’s plan of restoration in contrast to the perversion of dominion and the devising of power in the world system. Reformation’s Legacy: A study of the European reformation and its legacy of social, political and economic freedom and liberty throughout the Western world. Developing a Biblical Worldview: Understanding how worldview provides a paradigm for understanding the current, spiritual, economic, political, and social trends within the culture. The Substance of Christian Statesmanship: Defining a distinct set of Christian characteristics that will enable the believer to more effectively lead in social, political, and personal transformation. The Daniel Archetype: Daniel's example of intimacy with the Lord and intelligence of his world, which provides believers today with many principles and lessons that are necessary to regain their influence in the culture. A History of Power in the Middle East: Presenting a grand narrative that integrates the spiritual, political, and cultural story from the earliest of civilizations to modern world empires that have struggled for survival, have contended for legitimacy, and have fought for hegemony in this hotly contested region. About Dr. Simon: Dr. Simon has served as the Head of the History and Government department at Christ Church Academy and an instructor in the Master’s Commission for the last 15 years where he has both taught and developed extensive curriculum in Biblical studies, History of Western Civilization, Modern History, World Affairs, Worldviews, and Statesmanship. Dr. Simon also serves as President of the Seattle Churchill Centre that carries a vision to raise a new generation of statesmen and women called to preserve liberty through the example of Winston Churchill. As the Academic Dean, Dr. Simon is responsible for developing the School of the Apostolic Church with the elders of Christ Church Kirkland. This new school is designed to train and raise up the future church planters, nation builders and Kingdom leaders who can lead the church in fulfilling its Great Commission and Dominion mandate responsibilities. Dr. Simon began his education in the U.K. where he studied economics and public affairs. He studied theology at Portland Bible College and completed both an M.A. in Public Policy and a Doctorate of Education from Regent University in Virginia.

Old Testament History

Seminar description: This seminar will seek to describe the grand narrative of the Old Testament text in terms of the development of the elements of the story such as; the majesty and wisdom of God’s sovereignty, the implications of marring the image of God upon humanity, the perversion of dominion and the devising of power, and the redemptive course toward restoration. Seminar contents: Session 1: The Covenant for Nationhood & Nation Building (Genesis – Deuteronomy) Session 2: The Passage from Nation to State (Joshua – Saul) Session 3: The Establishment of Dominion and Dynasty (David – Solomon) Session 4: The Path from Disruption to Decline (Kings & Chronicles) Session 5: The Scourge of Ethnic Cleansing and Captivity (Assyrian & Babylonian captivity) Session 6: At the Juncture of Restoration and Regression (Post-exilic period) Session 7: The Journey into the Fullness of Time (Persia, Greece & Rome) Seminar objectives:

• To understand the narrative of the Old Testament will be presented with an emphasis on the relationship between the political, social, and spiritual culture of the ancient world.

To arrange the chronology of the biblical narrative’s defining moments and movements within the political, social, and spiritual culture of the ancient world.

Reformation’s Legacy

Syllabus

Seminar description: This seminar will study the legacy of the Reformation era and its impact upon the social, political and economic spheres of life throughout the Western world. The development of constitutional government in contrast to the divine right of kings, the freedom of religion and the growth of capitalism was largely spurred by the reformation in Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and in addition had a significant impact on the identity and character of America. Seminar contents: Session 1 & 2: The dawning of the reformation Session 3 & 4: The substance of the reformation Session 5 & 6: The power of the reformation Seminar objectives:

Understand the motivations and the influence of the Bible translators within the prevailing Catholic system prior to the reformation.

Summarize the central beliefs of reformed theology developed by Luther and Calvin and how their beliefs formed the foundation for cultural change even beyond the church.

Comprehend the political and spiritual motivations of the English reformation and its affect upon the development of a more constitutional form of government.

Analyze factors contributing to the struggles for power and global exploration among the European nations in the aftermath of the reformation.

Developing a Biblical Worldview: Seeing From Heaven’s Vantage Point

Seminar description: Worldview is essential not only in coming to grips with why we believe what we believe but understanding how worldview provides a paradigm for understanding the current spiritual economic, political and social trends within the culture. This seminar presents worldview with a unique set of goals that are primarily aimed at understanding the postmodern culture and current world affairs of the 21st century. Seminar contents: Session 1: The need for Kingdom values and worldview. Session 2: How worldviews work. Session 3: Heaven’s Vantage Point: A Biblical Worldview. Session 4: Integrating Biblical Values & Worldview in Statecraft. Session 5-10: Worldviews applied to: theology, ethics, sociology, economics, & politics Seminar objectives:

Recognize how worldviews affect thinking and behavior. Contrast a biblical worldview to a non-biblical worldviews. Acquire Kingdom values and worldview. Examine how worldviews have shaped social assumptions with regard to

The Substance of Christian Statesmanship

Syllabus

Seminar description: This seminar identifies the vital aspects of what it means to be a Christian statesman. Today, many of the nation’s leaders are all too often self-serving politicians rather than principally led statesman. One the other hand, church leaders are often only interested in people’s spiritual development and often ignore the social development of a people. This seminar defines a distinct set of Christian statesmanship characteristics that will enable the believer to more effectively lead in social, political and personal transformation. Seminar contents: Session 1 & 2: Character & Identity: Becoming Heaven’s Ambassador on Earth Session 3 & 4: Values & Worldview: Seeing from Heaven’s Vantage Point Session 5: Vision: Carrying a Vision for Justice, Reconciliation, and Peace Seminar objectives:

Receive revelation regarding identity as God’s sons and daughters, and thus heirs and co-rulers with Him.

Acknowledge a first allegiance as citizens of God’s Heavenly Kingdom nation, called to be its Ambassadors upon the earth.

The Prophet Daniel: Archetype of Prophetic Statesmanship

Syllabus

Seminar description: The prophet Daniel is widely regarded as one of the greatest examples in biblical history of a prophet whose calling was to reveal the sovereignty of God's Kingdom to the world powers of his time. This seminar examines Daniel's example of intimacy with the Lord and intelligence of his world, which provides believers today with many principles and lessons that are necessary to regain their influence in the culture. Daniel's gifted yet disciplined intelligence gained him an influential reputation before kings and courts that granted him the opportunity to discern and declare emerging shifts in world power that would contribute towards a return to liberty for God's people. Seminar contents: Session 1: Preparing the Future History Makers Session 2: From God's Counsel to the World Court Session 3: A Distinct Influence and Work Session 4: History in the Making: Defining Moments and Movements in History Session 5: Prayer that Pulls Heaven into History Seminar objectives:

Recognize that personal preparation is vital to apprehending personal destiny. Discern the personal distractions which keep believers from personal preparation. Seminar description: More than an historical overview of the Middle East, this seminar seeks to provide a grand narrative that integrates the spiritual, political, and cultural story from the earliest of civilizations to modern world empires that have struggled for survival, have contended for legitimacy, and have fought for hegemony in this hotly contested region. The main objective of this seminar will be to understand the overarching struggle for power that has dominated this region, with particular emphasis on how spiritual and temporal forces have driven rulers and nations in this epic struggle through the ages. Seminar contents: Session 1: Patriarchs & Powers: Abraham and the Rise of World Powers Session 2: The Dawning of Islamic Power Session 3: Waxing Colonial Power, Waning Ottoman Power Session 4: The New Israel and its Arab Opposition 1917-78 Session 5: Revolution & the Resurgence of Islamic Extremism 1979-91 Session 6: The Al-Qaeda movement and the Path to 9/11 Session 7: The future?: A Potent Mix of Disenfranchised Youth, Social Media, and

Moderate Islam. Seminar objectives:

Understand the overarching struggle for power that has dominated international politics and international relations in the Middle East throughout history.

Note the dominant trait of conquest and the quest political power throughout the early history of the Islamic people.

Contrast the differences between the origins of the Islamic community and the Judeo-Christian community.

Recognize the effects of the Crusades in attempting to contain the Muslims to Arabia.

The student will be able to discern some of the root causes of bitterness and humiliation among some Muslims that stems from the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of the West.

Recognize the 20th century superpower struggle for influence over the Middle East.
