PRINCIPALS OF CABIN PRESSURISATION

1. Contaminated enters the pre cleanerthrough angled louver plates creating a cyclone, which in turn spins a stainless steel rotor.

4. With up to 95% of air borne materialsejected, the clean dry air enters the main canister through angled vanes.

5. A secondary cyclonic rotation isgenerated to further separate contaminates.

6. The primary filter element thenremoves further contaminants before the air passes through the pressurising fan.

7. The filtered pressurised air isthen mixed with the return air of the air conditioning system and cabin pressurisation is achieved.

2. The centrifugal force generated bythe spinning rotor separates the heavier than air contaminates from the air.

3. Thrown against the outside of thepre cleaner, the harmful contaminates are dynamically ejected via the discharge port.

Positive Cabin Pressureensure’s a dust free cabin.

The TRACS Breathesafe unit is a rugged industrial controller specifically designed to monitor the air pressure inside avehicle’s cabin such that external harmful dusts and toxic fumes are expelled rather than ingressing into the cabin and being breathed in by the vehicle operators.

The Breathesafe controller has a built-in 10 bit analogue to digital converter that can accurately measure between 0.0 and 100.0 Pascals with repeatable real time accuracy and displays a corresponding alarm if the monitored pressure falls below the set point.

The alarm set point can be set via a potentiometer, also in the range of between 0.0 and 100.0 Pascals. This feature can be activated by linking two pins on the rear connector and the set point value appears on the bottom line of the digital LCD display. The actual pressure being read for comparison is displayed on the top line of the LCD.

MOUNTING DETAILS

The TRACS Breathesafe unit is designed to be dashboard mounted utilising the four mounting holes as a means of securing the device but it can be mounted anywhere and in any orientation. Preferably this unit should be mounted internally nearthe driver so that he can constantly monitor his breathing air pressure and ensure that he remains safe.

The alarm L.E.D. Is bright even in sunlight and that coupled with the LCD display alarm description it is a perfect partnership in ensuring that the correct alarm is identified straight away which will save time when correcting.

EXTERNAL VOLT-FREE ALARM DETAILS

The Breathesafe unit’s volt-free relay can be used to connect back to an automated alarm system for remote monitoringor it can directly control a siren to warn the driver of a low pressure or door / window open. This can also be simply wiredvia a latching relay at the appropriate voltage and a reset push button to MUTE the alarm when it triggers. Resetting of thealarm occurs automatically once the alarm has extinguished.

Please contact TRACS directly for further details on external wiring of alarms and devices.

SUPPLY POWER DETAILS

The Breathesafe unit is designed to operate via the vehicle’s ignition key-switch. Once the key is turned on the Breathesafeunit is straight way fully operational and reading the cabin’s air pressure within approximately 3 seconds.

Although fusing is not a requirement it is advisable to fit an inline fuse rated at 5A maximum for added protection up to theunit’s connector. This unit is fully protected against reverse power for an indefinite period of time.

The operating voltage is in the range of 12.5 to 36Vdc and the power supply is designed specifically to operate in the harsh vehicle environments which may include battery jump starts and battery chargers.

PRESSURE SENSOR DETAILS

The Breathesafe controller can operate with any pressure transducer available on the market able to provide an output range of 0 to 10Vdc over a pressure range of 0 to 100 Pascals. If a transducer fails for whatever reason, simply replace the transducer with a similar or equivalent unit and resume normal operation.

TRACS utilise the well tried and tested Industrial Grade Dwyer pressure transducers and most likely your vehicle will be fitted with one of these units so please consult with TRACS if you wish to keep spares in stock.

CALIBRATION

The Breathesafe controller being fully digital should not require further calibration or setting up. As soon as the unit is on it is fully operational and ready to monitor pressure within 3 seconds.

If you suspect that your unit has suffered a severe physical shock, please return it back to TRACS for a full inspection and calibration check for added peace of mind.

Please do not attempt to open this unit and tamper with it as there are no user serviceable parts inside and you may cause it irreparable damage in the process.

COMMISSIONINGPRESSURISER COMMISSIONING STEPS

WARNING: Wear correct personal protective equipment when cleaning and servicing this unit due to hazardous fibres which may be caught by all stages of filtration during normal unit operation. The electrical power system is supplied by 12v dc or 24v dc. No work should be carried out on the pressuriser system without the correct electrical safety measures being taken and all relevant circuit breakers opened to isolate the circuit. The pressuriser has various types of rotating equipment installed. Ensure all safety guards are in place while the system is running.

1. Power up the pressuriser and ensure the fans are operatingcorrectly.

2. Make sure the pressuriser switches on and off as required.

3. Using a manometer test the internal cabin pressure.

NOTE: The effectiveness of the Pressuriser isdepends on how well the cabin is sealed.Effective cabin pressurisation is achieved with a minimum of 25Pa above ambient pressure.

FAULT DIAGNOSISFAULT DIAGNOSIS - PRESSURISER

NOTE: This section is written on the assumption that the service mechanic is a qualified trades person in refrigeration and air conditioning.

They must have a good understanding of the systems operation prior to fault diagnosis and repairs (If in doubt please ask).

THE UNIT WILL NOT START OR IS PERFORMING POORLY:

1. Check main circuit breaker or power fuse supply. Make surethe motors are receiving the correct power supply & that it ismaintained once the machine is running.

2. If the unit uses motors with serviceable brush’ s Check brushcondition and for any dust build up in the brush holders.

POOR PERFORMANCE

1. Is the Primary filter serviceable.2. Check cabin sealing. Check to see if the door & window seal are

serviceable. Ensure all boots & gaskets been refitted after thelast service/repair.

3. Ensure the correct voltage motor is installed.

DUST IN CABIN

1. Check all cabin seals and test to ensure positive cabinpressurisation is been achieved, and maintained at a minimumof 25Pa above ambient pressure.
