I n honor of Jasper County military veterans, Kyle Eenigenburg has presented each branch of the Jasper County Public Library with a binder detailing military veterans buried in Jasper County cemeteries, which includes photos of headstones on each grave, the service member’s date of birth, date of death, the war that they served in, and, in some cases, their rank and the branch of military that they served
in. The binder, which may be found in the Genealogy Room of the Rensselaer, DeMotte & Wheatfield Library, was created as an Eagle Scout project assigned to Kyle, and information was compiled for this project through newspapers, Ancestry.com, and through touring each cemetery, and viewing each headstone within the cemeteries. The content of these binders are saved digitally, as well, and may be accessed by logging onto www.myjcpl.org/history, where you will also find Historic Maps of Jasper County & Indiana, Local Obituary Indexes, Local History Books and eBooks, Rensselaer Yearbook Archives, Northern Jasper County Yearbooks, Oral Histories, Library History and Timeline, and the Robert H. Milroy Collection.
Cemeteries included in the binder are Alter Cemetery, Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Barkley Cemetery, Blue Grass/Halstead Cemetery, Brown/Moody Cemetery, Burr Oak Cemetery, Cemetery of the Resurrection, Crockett Cemetery, DeMotte Cemetery, Dunkard Cemetery, Holland Cemetery, Independence Cemetery (East Side), Independence Cemetery (West Side), Kniman Cemetery, Lefler Cemetery, Memory Gardens, Milroy Cemetery, Mt.
