The Summary and Implementation Reports and
Implementation of Initiatives and Outcomes
STEP ONE: Writing the ReportSaturday, May 17—Steering Committee meets to review outcomes from COPE 3 and agree on Summary Report assignments.
• Outline of summary report• Committee assignments for report
writing• Timeline for draft submission and
review, finalization of summary report, submission to ALA Executive Board.
PRODUCTS:
STEP TWO: Presenting the ReportALA Annual Conference, Toronto
• Report provided to ALA Executive Board at least 10 days prior to Annual Conference.
• Steering Committee Chair, Executive Board liaison, and ALA staff liaisons present summary report to ALA Executive Board for their review and questions.
• ALA Council receives summary report for review and comment.
STEP THREE: Implementation Report
• ALA Staff liaisons will write an implementation recommendation report that will suggest the ALA offices, divisions, and committees best able to implement specific initiatives from COPE 3.
• Implementation report will include ways in which:•ALA affiliate organizations•State/Regional associations•City councils, academic institutions, school boards, corporate management teams•Individual libraries/library systems/school systems•Library management teams•Library support staff members
can implement, nurture,grow, and sustain the
initiatives proposed byCOPE 3, and those which
follow.
STEP FOUR: Implementation of COPE 3 Outcomes/Initiatives
•ALA staff liaisons will provide bi-annual (Midwinter and Annual conferences) updates to the ALA Executive Board and ALA Council on implementation of COPE 3 initiatives within the Association.
•ALA, affiliate groups, and others mentioned above will work, according to the timelines set by the individual organizations, to implement outcomes and initiatives.
