SPRING FAIR SUCCESS
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our annual Spring Fair. The day may have started with clouds and a chill but that did not deter the PHSG community and friends as they aended the 2017 Spring Fair.
Our pride and joy, our girls, donned their summer green dresses and welcomed everyone as stalls popped up everywhere offering trinkets, gis, an aucon, and many bargains. The Parents' Associaon ensured that all aendees had their choice of delicious food and delectable treats and meals including Lebanese schwarmas, German coffee and cakes, Indian curries, Greek souvlakis, African Ginger Beer, pancakes, boerewors specials and a much more.
Chef Bre Ladds, who was President Nelson Mandela's personal chef for over a decade, was Master of Ceremonies at the Spar Bale of the Chefs compeon. Chef Ladds inspired the cooking parcipants from Pretoria High School for Girls and Pretoria Boys High School. Learners, teachers, friends, siblings, Moms and Dads cooked up a storm following a demo and using ingredients from a surprise goody bag.
We hosted our first Ford Frenzy Obstacle Course race aiming to promote team work in true PHSG style – having tons of fun! There were prizes for the top 3 fastest teams, best dressed team, best team name and a few spot prizes. Will we see you and your team compete in 2018?
A giganc thank you to Spec Savers Groenkloof, CMH Ford Haield, Futurelife and DSTV for the fantasc prizes they sponsored.
Thank you to all the event assistants and parent volunteers that assisted on the day and to each and every aendee – you make a difference in the lives of our girls. The Spring Fair is PHSG's annual fundraiser. Funds raised go towards subsidising tours and educaonal oungs, as well as infrastructure development at PHSG.

The sounds acapella and folk music filled the hall on Friday,
25 August. The Rhythmony girls parcipated in a concert,
which is set to become a fixture on the PHSG calendar
every year.
The concert was the brainchild of Rhythmony head,
Zenaye Skosana, and was her parng gi to her fellow

leaner. Mr Ndlovu, Conductor and Director of Rhythmony,
lead the girls in local and internaonal songs bringing back
memories of years past when these songs were hits. At
mes the audience were encouraged to join in, resulng in

GIRLS ON BIKES
IRIS DAY
Pretoria High School for Girls received a visit from the Blue
Bulls aer having won a cheering compeon in May
when the Blue Bulls played the Highlanders. Edgar
Marutlulle, Roelof Smit, Cabous Eloff, Eli Snyman,
Louwtjie Steenkamp and Ciaran Dayaram joined the Iris
Day Fesvies at the school on 11 August. Edgar
addressed the school and gave an inspiring talk about how
your atude affects your outlook in life. This was followed
by signatures, selfies and squeals of delight from PHSG
learners.
In 1902 Miss Edith Aitken founded Pretoria High School
for Girls. Although the school's official birthday is in
October, Iris Day is customarily held in August to
celebrate the legacy and history of the school in a fun day
where learners parcipate in various acvies
throughout the day. This year, on Friday 11 August,
current learners commemorated 115 years of girls
passing through these doors and corridors to leave as
capable and inspired young women.
Each department as well as a few sport and cultural
groups hosted acvies for learners to spend the day
laughing, playing, and creang memories that will last a
lifeme. PHSG only hosts an Iris Day for every 5th
birthday of the school ensuring each group of learners
will have the opportunity to take part in this experience
at least once during their me at the school.
