The Long Island Anti-Hunger Initiative (LIAH)
LIAH• Covers Nassau and Suffolk Counties• Provides SNAP application assistance • Uses innovative outreach including: • Direct mailings• SNAP enrollment events• Social media• Robocalls• Texting outreach

Nutrition Outreach and Education Program
(NOEP)
NOEP• Since 1987 Hunger Solutions
New York has managed NOEP.• One of the largest SNAP
outreach programs in the nation.

NOEP• Free and Confidential• Helps connect potentially
eligible New Yorkers to SNAP and other federal nutrition programs.
NOEP• Prescreen• Application assistance• Identify and remedy barriers• Refer households to other
nutrition assistance programs and community agencies.
NOEP Achievements:During the 2013-2014 contract year:More than:• 30,000 new households received SNAP
benefits.• 60,000 pre-screenings occurred.• 212,000 face-to-face contacts were
made with potentially SNAP eligible New Yorkers.
NOEP Achievements:During the 2013-2014 contract year:More than:• 10,000 households were assisted with
language translation for the SNAP application process.
• 2,800 home visits were conducted for homebound seniors and disabled New Yorkers.
NOEP Achievements:During the 2013-2014 contract year:NOEP assisted more than:• 5,800 disabled individuals• 8,000 immigrants• 14,000 seniors• 20,000 children

Requirements for SNAP OutreachAll NOEP Coordinators trained on requirements. For example:• Federal funds cannot be used for TV or
radio ads or billboards.• Which required disclosures, such as
funding disclosures or Equal Opportunity statements, must appear on outreach.
• Must include clear contact information and location served.
