Detergent

DetergentFind out which detergents are suit-able for your appliance.

Suitable detergents

Only use detergents that are suitablefor dishwashers. Both separate andcombined detergents are suitable. For optimum washing and drying res-ults, use separate detergent, addingSpecial salt → Page 29 and Rinse aid→ Page 31 separately.Modern, powerful detergents mainlyuse a low-alkaline formulation withenzymes. Enzymes break downstarch and remove protein. Oxygen-based bleaching agents are generallyused to remove coloured marks, e.g.tea or ketchup.Note: Follow the manufacturer's in-structions for each detergent.

Detergent DescriptionTabs Tabs are suitable for all

cleaning functions and donot need to be measuredout. With shorter Programmestabs sometimes do not dis-solve entirely and leaveresidues of detergent. Thismay impair the cleaning ef-fect.

Powder deter-gent

Powder detergent is re-commended for shorterProgrammes. The dosage can be adjus-ted to the level of soiling.

Liquid detergent Liquid detergent worksfaster and is recommen-ded for shorter Pro-grammes without PreR-inse.Sometimes liquid deter-gent may leak out despitethe detergent dispenserbeing closed. This is not afault and is non-critical ifyou remember the follow-ing:¡ Only choose a pro-

gramme without PreR-inse.

¡ Do not select timer pro-gramming for startingthe programme.

The dosage can be adjus-ted to the level of soiling.

Tip: Suitable detergents are availableonline via our website or from Cus-tomer Services → Page 58.

Separate detergentsSeparate detergents are productsthat do not contain components otherthan detergent, e.g. powder deter-gent or liquid detergent.

With powder and liquid detergent thedosage can be individually adjustedto the level of soiling of the table-ware.For better washing and drying resultsand to avoid damage to the appli-ance, please additionally use Specialsalt → Page 29 and Rinse aid→ Page 31.

Combined detergentBesides conventional separate deter-gents, a number of products areavailable with additional functions. These products contain not only de-tergent but also rinse aid and salt re-placement substances (3in1) and, depending on the combination (4in1,5in1, ...), additional components suchas glass protection or stainless steelcleaner.According to manufacturers, com-bined detergents generally only func-tion up to a water hardness of 26 °E.With a water hardness above 26 °Eyou will need to add special salt andrinse aid. For the best washing anddrying results we recommend usingspecial salt and rinse aid from a wa-ter hardness of 17 °E. If you are us-ing combined detergent, the washingprogramme is adjusted automaticallyto ensure the best possible washingand drying result.

Unsuitable detergents

Do not use detergent which couldcause damage to the appliance orpresent a risk to health.

Detergent DescriptionHand washing-upliquid

Hand washing-up liquidcan cause increased froth-ing and damage the appli-ance.

Detergent DescriptionDetergent con-taining chlorine

Chlorine residue on table-ware may present a risk tohealth.

Information on detergents

Follow the instructions on detergentsin everyday use.¡ Detergents marked as "organic" or

"ecological" (environmentallyfriendly) generally contain lowerlevels of active agents or com-pletely dispense with certain sub-stances. The cleaning effect maybe restricted here.

¡ Set the rinse aid and the watersoftening system to the separatedetergent or combined detergentin use.

¡ According to manufacturers, com-bined detergents with salt replace-ment substances can only be usedup to a certain water hardness, usually 26 °E, without adding spe-cial salt. For the best washing anddrying results we recommend us-ing special salt from a water hard-ness of 17 °E.

¡ To prevent sticking, only touch de-tergents in a water-soluble pouchwith dry hands and only ever placethem in a dry detergent dispenser.

¡ Even if the rinse aid and specialsalt refill indicators light up, wash-ing programmes will run properlywith combined detergents.

¡ The function of rinse aid is limitedwith combined detergents. You willgenerally get better results usingrinse aid.

¡ Use tablets with a special dryingperformance.
