Strategy 1 In Action

Each student will have a personalized learning plan that will prepare them for

college and careers, with the interpersonal skills they need

for life success.

We will reimagine teaching and learning to guarantee relevant opportunities for personalized

learning experiences.

STRATEGY ONE - LEARNING

We will ensure relevant, engaging, and applied

learning experiences for all students that are tailored to their strengths, challenges,

and interests.

● Team of nearly 40 students, parents, community members, higher education representatives, and teachers representing all feeder patterns and grade levels

Personalized Learning places the whole child at the center of instruction. It is informed by strong educator/student/family/community relationships to provide equity and choice in time, place, path, pace, and demonstration of learning.

We are committed to engaging in an effective feedback loop that provides parents/families/ students with the essential information regarding student learning, academic success, strengths, and areas for growth.

Connecting Real World Learning to Graduation Credit

● This is at the heart of personalized learning - giving students a way to make their passions work for them

● Internships currently count for elective credits - sometimes honors-level

● 11th and 12th graders can leverage an ELA class embedded with their internship

● Working on connections to math, science, and social studies● Working to connect outside of school opportunities to credit

Multiple Entry Points for Collaboration (SP 1:2:3)

● Help students follow their passions - whatever they might be.● Zero-depth entry pool to test the waters before diving in head first● Serve as a classroom guest speaker (in-person or virtual)● Provide curriculum input or support● Help with equipment for the classroom● Review a student resume and conduct a mock interview● Allow a student or teacher to job shadow for a day● Host teachers for an externship opportunity● Sponsor a client-connected project● Provide an internship opportunity for a student

Grading & Feedback Practices (SP 1:3:4-5)

● Updated elementary grade cards to match grade level priority standards

● Starting with ELA and Math; Science, Social Studies, and Specials will be developed this year

● Previous grade reporting skill bands across multiple grade levels with generic and ambiguous descriptors

● New grade reporting shows mastery of priority standards at each grade level measured by common proficiency scales

● This is a first step toward making grades more meaningful for students, teachers, and parents
