1. Connectivity with any MSC/MSS with the SMSC that will be acting asSMS-R2. Licence requirements:A.HLR SMS via Home PLMN Router status (Feature Code: 1423)B. HLR PSS 2/PSS1 Capacity (Feature code:1214/1199)
If PSS2 licence is ordered, then Feature code is 1214 & if PSS1licence is ordered by solution, then feature number is 1199.
Process of loading the licences:FTP the licences in the NODEF/LICENCE folder of HLR.After that activate the licence by ZW7L:<Licence name>:ON;After loading kindly check that the licences should be there in ZW7I:FEA,FULL:FSTATE=ON;
3. Define the GT address of the SMS router for all subscribers(In ZWVI printout, SMS-R GT should be shown) ZWVS:SMSROU=<SMS-R GT address>;

4. Change PRFILE 2:1737(SMSROUTER_PSS_CODE) value to 1(if PSS1 licence is installed) & to 2 (if PSS2 licence is installed).
5. Change in the HPLMN & the PLMN from where MO-SMS is originated.
A. “REROUTE MT-SM BASED ON SMSC SENT FROM”(SMSCR)=Yes for the PLMN from where the A number is sending the MO-SMS.(i.e. If the PLMN for ex is VF Kolkata, then we need to set SMSCR=Y, for VF-Kolkata PLMN in HLR.
B. “REROUTE MT-SM BASED ON ROAMING NW”(NWR)=Yes in the HPLMN (NWR=Y is needed if only the Airtel B subscriber is in Roaming Network)[Don’t set SMSCR=Y in the HPLMN for Outroamer cases, it will stop the MO-SMS for the originating subscriber!!!]

6. Provision the B subscriber in HLR with ZMSD:IMSI:PSS=E1/E2;(depending on the type of licence)
Sample configuration from one of the HLR is attached.
Test Result: Once a SMS reaches the sender SMSC, it will route to B-party HLR for HLR enquiry. HLR will validate and forward the request to SMS-R. SMS-R then will talk to sender SMSC for FORWARD-SM part till the SMS gets delivered.Note: Here the SMS gateway MSC (SMS-GMSC) has the normal functionality (not affected by the SMS router).
