Introduction
SmartLock DiskSafe provides an innovative computer security platform to protect endpoint computers
by locking down the system image from any system modification attempts. Current
Anti-Virus/Malware solutions fail to protect endpoint computers under ever increasing malware
infections and cyber threats. SmartLock DiskSafe blocks any system modifications and enhances
Anti-Malware solutions to make a complete defense for endpoint computers of personal and business
users.
Computer should not be failed by malware (viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, rouge software, etc.)
attacks and should be reliable under any circumstance. However, the current DISKSAFE fails to
protect endpoint computers. SmartLock DiskSafe creates the new failsafe platform at the base of
DiskSafe system which is entirely different approach from Anti-virus/malware software products in the

market. It is an independent, enhancement product and would not create any conflict with any other
Anti-virus/malware software products or OS.
Anti-malware software products are largely depending on Knowledge base such as Signatures and
behavior models of malware. However, thousands of new malware are created every week and there
are millions of new and old malware exist today. No matter how often we update Anti-malware
software there is no end to it, SmartLock method will help to end the malware threats. Not only
preventing malware problems, it maintains DiskSafe infection free (no contamination build-ups) so
therefore would not cause any slowdowns. Every time the computer is restarted, the operating system is
restored back to its original state.
SmartLock DiskSafe has overcome the weakness of Anti-malware solutions and made it robust
DiskSafe security solution with ease of use. DiskSafe product has been developed by our development
partner, Maxlink-Solutions.
Pre-Implementation:
Prior to implementing Disksafe on a client machine there are a few things to consider.
Failure to properly configure the clients’ machine could result in irreparable data loss.
Warning: It is highly recommended that the customer’s data be backed up prior to
implementing the DiskSafe software. It should also be noted that the program best functions
when implemented when the operating system is guaranteed to be free of any Viruses,
Spyware, Malware of Trojans, to ensure this, it is recommended that the disk safe software be
implemented after a fresh install.
It is important to note that in order for the folder re-direction to work two partitions should be
created when installing the operating system. It is also recommended that the D: (Or second
partition) be at least 10GB in size.
Any programs or applications installed in the clients system, while it is in “Protected” mode
will result in the program disappearing or being removed automatically on restart. It is
important to make this clear to the client when the software is implemented, since it could
result in severe data loss for the customer. It is important to ensure that the “Disk Lock”
software is disabled before installing any applications to ensure that they do not disappear on
startup.
Other applications such as Printer Drivers, Scanner/Camera Drivers, as well as any new
devices or software installed under the “secure” mode will result in them disappearing on
restart. This is why it is crucial to properly communicate with the customer to ensure that
Smart Lock PC Vendor Manual. Page 3
they understand that installing any programs under the “secure” mode will disappear on
restart.
If the customer requests to have any third party software installed, which links to a database or
directory file, it is suggested that the location of those files be re-directed to the user profile
folder to ensure that they will remain even after restart.
For example, Quickbooks is used by many small business customers. The default save
folder for Quick books files is in C:/programfiles/intuit/quickbooks. In order to ensure that
the Quickbooks file is not deleted on startup, it is recommended that a folder be created in the
“User’s” profile and the data file should be redirected to there to ensure that the data will stay
in place even after restart.

How to enable data re-direction.
First you must ensure that the primary drive is split into two parts (C: and D: ). . Windows 7
users can split the primary drive even after the operating system has been installed; Windows
XP Users are suggested to do this at the time the Operating System is installed for optimum
performance. Warning: Prior to setting up the data migration, it is HIGHLY recommended
to backup any important data. This is to ensure that if there is a problem during the
installation, the files on the computer are not lost. The D: partition must be at least 10GB.
Failure to enable the folder re-direction will result in any new files to be erased on restart,
when running in protective mode.
Users are recommended to use the Windows 7 drive management tool to change the primary
drive size.
The files will appear in the normal C: user directory, as well as the D: directory. The files
will always appear in both places. Warning: It is important to note that any files that are
not in those folders will disappear on restart.

FAQ
Does your software replace antivirus software?
Yes and No. Although the software prevents intrusions from penetrating the operating system, and
clears it on restart, we still recommend a Antivirus software to be installed since you can still be
infected with a virus until you restart.
If I still need to have an antivirus why do I need to buy your software?
The reason is because conventional Antivirus software work by matching up potential known
infections with the items on your computer, if they make a successful match then it will indicate that
you have a virus, otherwise the virus can stay undetected until the database is updated to include the
virus that is in your computer.
Therefore antivirus software cannot effectively guarantee that your computer is not infected with a
virus, this is because Malware’s and Trojan viruses are changing on a daily basis and has become
increasingly difficult to be able to constantly update the virus definitions. The difference with our
software is that it locks the computer’s program files from being modified in anyway, and upon restart
the computer’s operating system can be restored back to its “clean state”.
Smart Lock PC Vendor Manual. Page 24
So should I be using this software in conjunction with an Antivirus?
Yes, that is correct.
What operating system does the software support?
Currently the Software supports Windows Based Operating Systems, including Windows XP, Vista, 7,
and 7 Sp1.
Does the program support Mac Operating Systems?
Unfortunately at this time our software only supports Windows operating systems.

Smart Lock PC Vendor Manual. Page 25
As a reseller why would I support a product that would prevent my customer from
having problems?
As responsible IT Professionals our job is to recommend the right solution to the customer, based on an
evaluation of their needs. Part of that is to mitigate the risk of them being infected by viruses’
malware to the best of our ability, that is what our customers rely on us for. Customers who are
trouble free, and are satisfied with your service will result in recurring customers which in turn
compliments your business.
Additional Revenue Stream
By offering a unique product can give you the competitive advantage over other service providers in
your geographical area, customers will choose your company over others by offering a more advanced
and functional solution. Although in some ways virus and malware problems are a part of the revenue
stream, it can often be tedious and impractical.
More recently viruses have become notorious for re-appearing or recurring, after clean installs. This
is why a program such as Smart Lock PC should be an essential part of every system builder’s package.
The loss in Virus repair can be re-cooperated by properly managing the customer’s computer, much
like a corporate environment where there are checks and balances in place to protect the user from
creating problems, such as installing unapproved software, untested service packs, or uninstalling
required software without the proper knowledge.
Charging customers a maintenance fee for properly managing their computer is a more effective in
preventing problems with the user and still maintains a healthy revenue steam for service providers.
Resellers can earn additional revenue by remotely administering the computer on behalf of their
customer, to install programs/applications or to make changes that require the software to be disabled.
Password Recovery
If the customer forgets or loses their password to unlock their disk safe software, is it possible to
retrieve it?
In order to “unlock” the program in a situation the password has been lost, customers are asked to
contact technical support for further assistance.
How many months is the license valid?
Unlike other endpoint security products, our software is valid for life for the specific version you
purchased. If the user would like to upgrade to a newer version, then they must purchase another
license. For users who need to re-install their product, they are eligible for a one time re-activation on

the same machine, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Customers are required to show
proof of purchase from their authorized reseller, for re-installation.
