OUTLINE• Introduction• Activity 1: Evading Motion Detection• Activity 2: Taking a tour of some sensors• Activity 3: Making Microphone• Activity 4: Exploring the Piezo
Effect :Inside story• Activity 5: Measuring Piezoelectric or
Pyroelectric Response• Design Project: Design a coin counter• Product Idea: Smart Shopping Cart
INTRODUCTIONA smart transducer is an analog or digital transducer or actuator combined with a processing unit and a communication interface
ACTIVITY 1: EVADING MOTION DETECTIONTrying to evade a motion detector sensorProcedure:We tried evading the motion sensor by:• Predicting it’s range• we also tried to walk real slow
Activity 2: Taking a Tour of Some Sensors Output Processor Input Device
Numbers Electric circuit Temperature Thermometer
Sound and movement
Electric circuit Batteries Clock
Colors Heat transfer Hot water Cup
Activity 3: Making a Microphone Procedure: • This activity required making a table as well but
with two different kinds of PVDF • one of the PVDF was rigid and the other was
flexible
Conclusion: We found out that the flexible PVDF is more sensitive
Activity 4: Exploring the piezo effectProcedure: Recognize the structure of a polymer
Results: Piezoelectric effect is the ability of certain materials to generate an electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress.
Activity 5: Measuring Piezoelectric or Pyroelectric Response Procedure: Drop a metal ball on the PVDF and measure the voltage Results:
Conclusion: The larger the ball the higher the voltage
FINAL PROJECT:SMART SHOPPING CART
• Introduction and Rationale: • Shopping cart That Brakes Automatically and Follows You
Around At Safe Distance• you can go for shopping and the trolley will follow you at a
safe distance, without having to worry about your belongings as the carriage will automatically stop behind you at a pedestrian crossing
FINAL PROJECT:SMART SHOPPING CART
• Aim of the work (objectives)• Design a save baby trolley that can detect obstacles and
act accordingly
SMART SHOPPING CARTHYPOTHESIS:
• Can the sensors provide more protection to the baby trolley?
• Will the break be fast enough to avoid crash?
SMART SHOPPING CARTMETHODS AND MATERIALS
We use a sensor called:Adaptive cruise control sensor (ACC) is an intelligent form of cruise control
that slows down automatically to keep pace with the object in front of you.
SMART SHOPPING CARTRESULTS
• The Results Of The project:- • Makes shopping much more easier and fun• Saves the trouble of pushing the cart
around
SMART SHOPPING CARTRECOMMENDATIONS
• We recommend applying this product to all the shopping malls and hyper markets as it saves too much effort and time for the shoppers
CONCLUSIONS
A sensor is an object whose purpose is to detect events or changes in its environment, and then provide a corresponding output.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
