FALL 2010

S.M.A.R.T GOALSpecific: My specific goal over the next few weeks is

to eat healthier including eating more vegetables and fruit.

Measurable: Wake up in the morning and eat a banana, orange or anything with fruit in the morning. Then at night and during the day eat vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and celery.

Attainable: Making sure that I have lots of fruits and vegetables in the house will help my goal be achieved. It will make it easier to reach for a piece of fruit like an apple instead of a cookie from the cupboard.

Realistic: I think that my goal is most definitely realistic. I can manage to go to the grocery store and buy fruits and stick them on the counter and allow myself to eat healthy things. It is something that I have always wanted to do but I always just went for the junk food.

Timely: I am going to start this goal tomorrow when I go to the grocery store and get things for the house. I am going to get foods like oranges, apples, carrots, and grapes. It will make me feel better and this course is going to help me start. :)

REASONS

The reason why I chose this topic as my goal is because ever since High School I have gained about 5-10 pounds and I have not been feeling like myself. I don't have any more energy and I don't sleep well anymore. Eating well helps me take care of that. The one reason why I have “let myself go” was because I was transitioning from playing basketball everyday to barley doing any sort of exercise/ and eating healthy. I always ate very well when I was in High School and now that I am working for everything I have it is expensive to eat healthy and to keep up with everything else I have to pay for doesn't help my eating habits.

To accomplish my goal I started to put away $20 a week just for healthy food. I knew that if it cost more to eat healthy then I would have to change some of the ways that I spend and use my money. Just to eat better it may cost me but I will feel much better.

STEPS 1, 2, 3...I started to accomplish my goal by going grocery

shopping for healthy things. I got foods such as celery, grapes, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelon, and other foods to snack on or to make healthy meals with. As I added before I put away $20/week to make sure that I could afford the healthy foods and I was able to get everything that I needed and some with my budget.

I also cleaned out my refrigerator and cupboards that had junk food. It made me realize how much money I spent on things that were making me feel gross about the way I felt.

Doing all these things made me feel so much better already. Just seeing the healthy food in my kitchen made me feel so much healthier. It was motivating and even made my husband feel better. haha

OVERVIEW

As you can see from the charts my eating habits have changed quite a bit. I have been feeling so much better and over the last month I have lost about 3 pounds just from changing my diet. This assignment has made me feel so much better about myself. I have totally flopped my eating habits and the way that I live. It has motivated me to exercise more and get the 8 hours of sleep that I need.
