Regulatory Imperatives
• Do away with averaging out peak power prices
• Drive commonwealth targets for renewable energy
• Promote adoption of more sophisticated control systems to facilitate connection of highly variable sources of power
• Security considerations seeking more robust energy grid less dependent on centralised power stations
Operator Imperatives
• Offer greater choice to customers in how they use energy
• Increased system reliability (lower OPEX)
• Greater energy efficiency (lower CAPEX)
• Meet statutory carbon targets - cleaner environment
• Higher operational flexibility and pricing options

Smart Grid Operations Command-and-Control Centre is the single operations console that manages the entire distribution network. An operator is no longer required to monitor the network in a SCADA system, make changes in an OMS, use automated vehicle location (AVL) to find a field resource, and call the resource to assign a work order.
DMS and enhanced operations centre increases the ability to quickly detect and respond to potential problems.

Mobility solutions driving greater operational efficiencies by maximising technological (platform) capabilities and seamless communication platforms. A consolidated view of field information (GIS), operational data and workforce is ensuring leading to cross functional multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Comprehensive mobile environment supports the following:
One consolidated field application handling multiple types of work
Seamless data, reduced redundancy, improved data accuracy
Integrated Work and Asset Management in a Spatial context
Reduced software, maintenance, development, IT, rollout, and support costs
Improved productivity and efficiency
