Topic:Slum Condition in Bangladesh
Slum is one of the major social problems in urban life in Bangladesh. As a developing and over populated country thousands of people live here under the poverty level. Bangladesh is a country of 164 million people where 3.5 million people live in 4000 slums. The slum problems are the fruit of unplanned urbanization and industrialization.
Concept of slum in Bangladesh:
Slums are consisted with the peoples who are deprived and neglected from fundamental needs like fresh food, pure water and good shelter. Slums are the areas of city (mainly Dhaka) city where people live with hunger, malnutrition and different kinds of diseases. Where children’s don’t go to school they go for job for food. Slums are the places where people suffer malaria mosquito, dirty environment and bad small that means an area which is out of imagination of rich people.
Overall features of slums in Bangladesh:
Slums are not a new phenomenon. They have been part of the history of Dhaka city. The amounts of slum dwellers in Bangladesh are increasing day by day. The characteristic associated with slums very place to place. Slums are usually urban decay, high rates of poverty and unemployment. Slum is the place of increasing many social problems such as crime, drug addiction, and high rate of population growth.
Slums condition in Dhaka city
Causes behind migrate people from villages to Dhaka city:
• The migration of people from rural to urban areas is the main reason of the growing slum population in Dhaka city. The upward trend of the rural population contributes to the downward land-man ratio. As a result, landless and jobless people on the breadline are increasing day by day.

Study in the slum of Dhaka city:
• The total number of slums in the Dhaka city corporation area is approximately 4,500. For the study only 4 slums at Agargaon, Bhasantek, Badda and Katashur were surveyed.Dhaka city is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. It has already been mentioned over 34 percent of them live in slums with inadequate facilities.
Statistics:• Statistics show that the average population density in
slums was 831 persons per acre. More than 93% of slums were reported to have very high population density and very poor environmental services, and 85% had very poor housing conditions.

Role of social workers to solve the Slum problems:

Conclusion:
“Slum life” means a bad dreamy life, life of man as non-human being, and the final deprivation from fundamentals constitutional rights-it is proved from the description of this paper.
