From the previous classes, you would have been familiar with

the methodology of studying fiqh in Islam, especially on the

importance of going back to the basis (dalil).

Therefore in future, my slides/ handouts will not contain

elaborate explanations, but will be brief but with emphasis on

basis (therefore you are to give special attention to practice,

and to memorize) on the explanation and these basis - Qur'an

or Hadith (especially those which I painstakingly provide with –

or without - the transliteration to ease those new converts).

LAA-YAQ-BA-LULLAA-HU – SWO-LAA-TA – AHA-DUKUM- IDZAA- AH-DA-THA – HATTA – YA-TA-WAD-DWU’


WudhuWudhu’ ’ (ablution) means – conditional washing of certain (ablution) means – conditional washing of certain

Concerning the sequence of performance, the Messenger of

In one Hadith, he stressed that any act without beginning it with

Basmalah has no blessings in it.

"Were it not to cause hardship on my community, I would

have ordered them to use a toothbrush for every

ablution."

Ayesha asked the prophet s.a.w. "O messenger of Allah!

How should a toothless person cleans his mouth?"

"By putting his fingers into his mouth", he replied.

(c) RINSE THE MOUTH AND SNIFF WATER INTO NOSTRIL AND BLOW OUT


"When one performs ablution, he should rinse his mouth."

(Hadith reported by Abu Dawud and Baihaqy)


"When any of you performs ablution, he should sniff

water up his nostrils and then blow it out."

(Hadith reported by Bukhary, Muslim & Abu Dawud)

Aus ibn Aus Athaqafi r.a. who said, “I saw the

messenger of Allah s.a.a.w. make ablution, and

he washed his hands three times.”

‘Ayesha r.a. reported that “the Prophet s.a.w.

would run his fingers through his beard.”

Anas r.a. reported that “When the prophet s.a.w. performed

his ablution, he would take a handful of water and put it

under his jaws and pass it through his beard. He then said,

“this is what my Lord, Allah, ordered me to do.”

(j) IMMEDIATE SEQUENCE (MUWALAT)

The acts of wudhu’ (ablution) should follow in immediate sequence and

not intersperse with some other work

(k) NOT TO TALK WHILE TAKING WUDHU’

To not indulge in talking while doing ablution is the practice (Sunnah) of

the Prophet s.a.w.


(l) WIPING EARS


Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’d Yakrib r.a. reported that

“the Prophet s.a.w. wiped his head and his ears,

the interior and the exterior, while making

ablution. He also put his finger inside his ears.

(Hadith reported by Abu Dawud & Tahawi)

Ibn ‘Umar r.a. said, “He (the Prophet s.a.w.) wiped his head

and ears with one wipe.” And another narration it states, “He

wiped the inner portion of his ears with his index finger, and

the outer portion with his thumb.”

Abu Musa Ash’ari r.a. who said, “I came to the Messenger of Abu Musa Ash’ari r.a. who said, “I came to the Messenger of

Allah s.a.w. with water. While he was performing ablution, I Allah s.a.w. with water. While he was performing ablution, I

heard him supplicate “heard him supplicate “ALLAH-HUM-MAGH FIR-LII-DzAMBII, ALLAH-HUM-MAGH FIR-LII-DzAMBII,

WAWAS-SI’ - LII-FII DAA-RII, WA BAA-RIK-LII FII-RIZQIIWAWAS-SI’ - LII-FII DAA-RII, WA BAA-RIK-LII FII-RIZQII” (O ” (O

Allah! Forgive my sins, make residence spacious for me and Allah! Forgive my sins, make residence spacious for me and

bless me in my provisions). I said, “O Prophet of Allah! I heard bless me in my provisions). I said, “O Prophet of Allah! I heard

you supplicating such and such.” He said, “Did I leave anything you supplicating such and such.” He said, “Did I leave anything

no partner, and that I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave no partner, and that I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave
