  • CSA isCommunity Supported Agricultureusing organically approved growing methods
  • A relationship of mutual support and commitment between a local farmer and the community
  • The farmer is provided financial support and community support
  • The community participates through annual shareholder fees and volunteer effort

  • The La Vista CSA garden is located on the beautifulgrounds of the Oblate Missionary Novitiateat 4350 Levis Lane in Godfrey, Illinois

  • A local community supported garden started in 2002
  • The garden is managed by a full time farmer using organic farming methods
  • A Core Croup of seven volunteers oversees the garden
  • Shares of the harvest are sold to area families(reduced share costs are also available to needy families)

  • A wide variety of fresh vegetables (over 50 kinds)
  • A variety of herbs
  • A variety of colorful cut flowers

  • Shareholders are assigned a pick-up day, either Tuesday or Friday.The freshly harvested produce is available for pick-up at the garden barn between2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Any excess produce is donated to the local food pantry

  • On average, a weekly share will provide avegetablesupplemented diet for a family of four

  • The season starts in mid-May and goes throughmid-November, depending on growing conditions( usually 27 weeks )

  • A full share with weekly pick-up is about $20 per week.($550 total cost)
  • An alternate share is about $11 per week.($300 total) (Alternate shares pick-up every other week)
  • Scheduled payment plans are available.You may alsosplityour share with someone else.

  • We have spring greens shares available
  • Spring greens are a Gourmet Salad Mix made up of several red and green varieties of lettuces and baby spinach
  • You will receive one pound of produce per week for 5 weeks beginning around mid-March
  • Cost is $35 for shareholders and $50 for non-shareholders
