• Nintendo was founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. It started as a small company doing things such as a cab company and hotels. Eventually (1970’s) Nintendo developed into a video game company, becoming one of the most influential in the industry

• In 2007, Nintendo ranked 10th on the list of largest software companies in the world and as of 2008 Nintendo has sold over 470 million hardware units and 2.7 billion software units.

• Three very successful products from Nintendo have been: Nintendo 64, The Wii, and the Nintendo DS.

• The main branch (starting building) of Nintendo is located in Kyoto, Japan. It was originally founded in 1889 but didn’t start making video games until about the 1970’s

• Nintendo has roughly 3,400 employees. Who each made about 2.5 million dollars last year.

-Satoru Iwata is the 4th president and CEO of Nintendo succeeding to the long-standing previous president of the company, Hiroshi Yamauchi in 2002.

-Nintendo’s recorded record revenue was in 2007 due to the Nintendo DS and the Wii. Nintendo grew profits by 89.9%.

-Nintendo’s Stock has shown a steady increase since 2005.

• Two major competitors of Nintendo have been Microsoft and Sony.

• Microsoft is the worlds number one software company and provides a variety of products and services.

• Sony has a high-profit consumer electronic products and gaming systems.

• Nintendo has been the most successful video games company in the history of industry achieving a consistent level of sales and sold profitability year – in and year – out.

• Nintendo has been so successful because it continues to surprise the world with new inventions. It’s very reliable, and no other video game company would try and touch it.
