Dr. Charles H. Townes, father of lasers, Nobel Laureate and a professor of physics at the University of California Berkeley, will be honored in person at our 30th Annual Conference. Dr. Townes first demonstrated the maser in 1954, and later published the theoretical principles of the laser. On the 50th anniversary of the operation of the laser, ASLMS is proud to honor Dr. Townes.
