You can call or text and let her know you are coming by, or just drop in. She will be at the picnic table outside the Fellowship Hall tomorrow, Monday October 5th beginning at 11am. She would love to see you. Starting Sunday, October 18 th , worship services will be in the sanctuary! Are you interested in being a part of the worship team? Many of our usual volunteers will still be attending online so this is a great time to see new faces ushering, greeting, lighting candles, reading, etc. If youd like to embrace this opportunity, please consider attending a worship rehearsal event on Saturday, October 10 th at 10 am to help us run through all the logistics of holding a physical distanc- ing, Covid-safe worship service. This practice will enable us to work out the details of registration, as well as all the various parts of worship. It will not be a service, but will be a chance for some in-person interaction and to sign up for various worship team jobs.(We will be masked and distancing, and as always, please refrain from attending if you are feeling ill.) We have spots for 50 people and need a critical mass to get an idea what Sunday services will look like. If you would like to attend, you need to register. SLC Annual Meeting

November 22nd

Pastor Paula’s Last Sunday October 11th Come and visit, share your stories... You can call or text and let her know you are coming by, or just drop in. She will be at the picnic table outside the Fellowship Hall tomorrow, Monday October 5th beginning at 11am.

She would love to see you.

Starting Sunday, October 18th, worship services will be in the sanctuary! Are you interested in being a part of the worship team?

‘Many of our usual volunteers will still be attending online so this is a great time to see new faces ushering, greeting, lighting candles, reading, etc. If you’d like to embrace this opportunity, please consider attending a worship rehearsal event on Saturday, October 10th at 10 am to help us run through all the logistics of holding a physical distanc-ing, Covid-safe worship service.

This practice will enable us to work out the details of registration, as well as all the various parts of worship. It will not be a service, but will be a chance for some in-person interaction and to sign up for various worship team “jobs.” (We will be masked and distancing, and as always, please refrain from attending if you are feeling ill.)

We have spots for 50 people and need a critical mass to get an idea what Sunday services will look like. If you would like to attend, you need to register. On the church website, go to “forms and registration” and click on “save a seat.”

Thank you for helping us move forward with in person worship at SLC! Questions? Email Kate Alcock at [email protected]

Why are we ending our Park and Praise services and going inside to our sanctuary?

We are transitioning into our worship space because doing an outdoor service will become increasingly difficult due to winter weather issues and we want to continue to offer a worship service for those who can and wish to gather in person during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When will this transition happen and what time is the service? Sunday, October 18th at 10 am.

Will there still be an Online Worship Service? Yes! We will continue to offer an online version of worship but there will be some changes. Instead of producing a worship video prior to Sunday, we now will live stream our in-sanctuary worship service at 10am but we will be incorporating some pre-recorded parts into the service like our worship slides, ZOOM choir anthems, prayers done from different locations, etc. SLC has hired a Worship Media producer and invested in new equipment to do this livestream well (multiple cameras, remote control camera, etc.) More-over, the livestream saves automatically on YouTube and can be viewed at other times just like our current worship video.

Will there be an on sight option for those who do not want to risk going inside?

Yes! The livestream will be available on your phone, tablet, or computer. We are working to get our Wi-Fi extended so you can worship in your car. For those with unlimited data on their phone, you can access the service in that way as well. We are also working on getting the FM radio transmission of the service to our parking lot so even if you do not have a device to watch the service, you can use your radio! Communion will be brought out from the altar to those worshiping in their cars. Moreover, weather permitting, you can get out of your car and have outdoor conversation with other worshipers after the service (masks on and 6 ft. distance of course) like people are currently doing before and after Park and Praise.

How many can come to the worship service and how will we decide who can come?

Following the Governor’s guidelines, we can have approximately 75 people in the sanctuary. Attendance will require a reservation and we have online reservation soft-ware set up but you can also email or call our Communications Connector Kathleen John-son to make a reservation.

For the first service on the 18th, reservations will open on Monday October 5th, 2 weeks prior but going forward, reservations will open one week ahead of the service on Mondays.

SLC Covid-19 Worship Plans Q & A

What if the service is full?

We are planning to have an overflow space (approximately 35 people) in the Gathering place where the service is projected on the big screen. People can watch and worship with the livestream together but people will also be able to worship on sight from their cars (see above).

What should I expect when I arrive?

Worshipers are greeted and stay six feet apart in breezeway while they wait to enter the sanctuary (no fellowshipping indoors in narthex/foyer). Each individual or household will then be ushered into the sanctuary. The ushers will make sure people are correctly distanced from each other. The reservation software lists the requirements regarding attending – similar to what we are all used to being asked before going to a doctor’s office but all worshipers will need to strictly adhere to those, i.e. no attendance if one has a fever or has been exposed to someone testing positive, etc.

To what requirements will worshipers need to adhere while in the sanctuary?

Keeping six feet distance between people/households and wearing masks is required. Masks will be available for those who forget or don’t have one. Hand sanitizer will be available for use as one enters the sanctuary.

How will Communion be given?

We will continue to use pre-packaged containers of bread and wine. However, we have newer ones that are easier to open and also provide grape juice and wine options and glutten free. You will come forward at usher’s direction to receive Communion and then return to your seat – there will be a container for you to put your empty package in. You can kneel at the altar but of course will need to keep a 6 ft distance from others.

Can we Sing?

With masks on, we are able to sing.

Are restrooms open and can we fellowship afterward? Restrooms are open (only two people at a time). You will be ushered out of worship and conversation in our narthex will not be allowed but worships once they are outside. We are looking at using the Social Hall for after service conversations as we move into our rainy season.

Property and Grounds special update: The Gathering Place roof is worn thin and needs replacing (16 years old). We are currently scheduled for Integrity Roofing of Poulsbo to remove and replace the shingles and underlayment on October 14-15.

The trustees plan to utilize the Building Fund to pay the $45,000 cost. Any contributions to the Building Fund to offset the cost of the project will certainly be welcome.
