sewer l ine repairs.

SLAP

Program Information.

SLAP is an optional City program avai lable to al l residents and homeowners, that for only $4 per month provides coverage against the high cost of water and sewer l ine fai lure repairs and replacements.

Repair ing a fai lure in a water or sewer l ine costs between $3,000 and $8,000 depending on the extent of the damage and amount of work needed to repair the l ine.

SLAP guarantees protection with no out of pocket cost to the resident/homeowner.

Complete coverage.

SLAP covers all water service l ine failures from the point of connection at the City water main to the connection at the water meter, as well as sewer l ine laterals that are broken or leaking, from the home exit point to the connect at the City sewer main.

Service for both water and sewer l ines includes repair or replacement of l ine, any related sidewalk or road repairs, plus soil and seed restoration.

Not included.

Water and sewer l ine damage caused by excavation activity; interior water damage and blockages cause by anything other than line breakage, such as flushed materials and/or tree roots; and interior sewage backups are not covered by SLAP.

Sign up is easy.

Visit City Hall or cityofeastpointe.net, fi l l out the SLAP form and return it to the Finance Department. Bil l ing wil l begin on your next water bil l.

Coverage begins once the first payment is made. However, to protect the City, there is a a two-month delay before any self-identif ied claims may be submitted.

Cancelation is simple.

Residents must provide a written letter of cancelation to the finance department. SLAP does not cover l ine failures that occur after cancelation.
