WELCOME

Skyline February/March 2011 03

There is a great buzz about the place following the recent purchase of Skypark by Moorfield Group and Resonance Capital. The new on-site team includes Angela Higgins and Ken Barrett from Resonance Capital, along with myself as Marketing Manager and Tenant Liaison. We augment the existing team, led by Lorraine Slater-Rouse, Centre Manager. At the moment we're getting to know Skypark and everyone inside. We still can't get over the incredible views you have! At 560,000 sq ft Skypark is the largest office park in Scotland, and with 3,000 staff working on site, we're actually the size of a small town. This means there is great potential for a Skypark business community and the introduction of more lifestyle facilities and on-site events. We'd like to make Skypark somewhere you enjoy coming to work, so tell us what you think about Skypark and what you'd like to see happening - for work and play. On page 7 of this issue there is a link to a quick survey. Do you fancy workshops? Networking events? Dry-cleaning, showers, bands or yoga? We have the Park, the West End and the Clydeside on our doorstep. Let's make the most of it! We've also set up a Twitter and Facebook page to share your photographs, offers from local traders and happenings galore.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy and please send on your news for future editions!

Skypark '68: The Secret Archives

These photos of Skypark from 1968 were discovered back in December, and we thought they were incredible. If you’d like to see more of these rarities, check out Skypark Glasgow on Facebook.

As we’re all keen to create a business community at Skypark, our very first steps are:

• The return of the Skypark newsletter, Skyline, featuring a selection of our tenants: Barnardo's, Four Seasons Nursery, Ticketmaster and Tektura. After visiting their offices for a chat we found out things about their companies that we felt were worth sharing with the rest of the site. We’d be delighted to feature news about your company, just drop us a line and we’ll arrange a visit.

• An update of the Skypark intranet, with the first priority being a directory of contact information for businesses on site. If you haven’t already, please forward a contact email address, telephone, website and 2-3 sentences about your company to [email protected].

• Each month we’ll be organising a WineDown event over the lunch period to encourage everyone to get to know one another. Formal networking events will follow, but we hope to capture you for at least a few moments for wine and nibbles! So far the WineDowns have featured string quartets and carols from the Four Season’s nursery at Christmas; and a romantic theme for Valentine’s week with wine, violins, cookies and roses.

• We’ve created a Facebook page to house the best photos of site events and photos from your company events. Tag Skypark Glasgow in your photos or email them to [email protected] and we’ll get them added to our collection. You can also follow us on Twitter @skyparkHQ to find out about offers from local businesses, upcoming events, competitions and other news.

• There will be more information coming soon about our tenant’s lounge and other exciting plans for Skypark. We would be very grateful if you could take a moment to complete our quick online survey to help us take your priorities into account. Tell us what would make Skypark a nicer place to spend your working week. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6NZGMPJ

All About You

And finally… WIN LUNCH FOR 2 AT THE CRABSHAKK

We are looking for photos of you, your colleagues, events, views, and life on site. Email photos to [email protected] and you could win a decadent lunch at one of the city’s trendiest new bistros... which also happens to be right on our doorstep. The winner will be selected by the site management team and announced via Twitter on 15th March.

Four Seasons Nursery: Open Day, Come Play

Open Day for Skypark employees, their families and friends.

Come and see the best on-site nursery in Glasgow, as endorsed by our excellent Care Commission grades.

We also offer extened hours and weekend care.

The Four Seasons Nursery is all purpose built, and a visit will melt your heart. The children have their own imagination station, computer classes, French classes, story hour... the snacks are nutritious and the staff extremely dedicated. Most recently, the older children in the nursery were learning about trips to the dentist. The role play corner was transformed into a dentist's surgery, complete with mirrors, masks, dressing up clothes and toothbrushes! Come see for yourself at the open day.

Find us at 10 Elliot Place - walk through the Main Reception of Skypark 1, exit the building through the double doors on your right, and our entrance is to your right.

Tektura specialises in commercial and domestic wall coverings for the interior design industry. One afternoon I wandered around the back of Skypark to 18 Elliott Place, next to Skypark 3, into Tektura's airy showroom. It felt like another world.

The girls were extremely enthusiastic, showing me samples of digital print wallpaper that can be customised and talked about their work with top-notch design firms which include Graven Images. Visitors are mostwelcome - time to go see for yourself.

When I discovered Barnardo's was based on site, I set up an appointment with Site Manager, Joanne Hughes to find out more about their work from Skypark. As Barnardo's is a children's charity, the office and reception area is well decorated with spontaneous art from young visitors. During our conversation Joanne mentioned that

We're dedicating two days to donations, so please give what you don't need and bring it all in to Barnardo's at Skypark 5.

Donations are being accepted on both Monday 7th March and Wednesday 9th March.

Barnardo's is providing bags for your donations, which are available from Emma at the main Skypark reception.

Clean Out Your Closet for Barnardo's

cash and clothes donations were seriously lacking in 2010 compared to previous years. I wondered if this might be an opportunity for all the Skypark residents to clean out their closets and bring in any unwanted items for Barnardos donations. It's never too early for a Spring clean and so we challenge you to bring in and donate those dresses that no longer fit, the golf trousers that you keep meaning to pass on and the bag of clothes your kids have outgrown!
