INTRODUCTION
Sky Eye Measurement was established in 2005 with 14+ mobile units, we supply temporary oil and gas flow measurement.
Our instrumentation and measurement background has allowed us to focus on the installation and accuracy of today’s measurement standards.
We offer fully portable well site SCADA units for optimization, troubleshooting and monitoring.
With the help of UMS we are able to monitor oil & gas production quickly & compare measurement issues effectively.
INTRODUCTION CONTINUED
Why we started - We recognized the need for a portable gas well optimization tool that was supported to deliver results.
How we started – We teamed up with UMS for a flexible internet based host, to capture your field data.
Continuing to face today’s challenges – We moved into well test verification and oil well optimization.
GAS WELL APPLICATIONS
Chart verification on plunger wells Plunger/timer setup and control 3rd party wells - monitoring/trouble shooting tool Remote access wells Metering differences and errors Shut in reactivations / end of life gas wells Gas lift wells
GAS WELL TEST CASE #1
Gas well on plunger lift with chart recorder and stand alone plunger control box
Company requesting SCADA data to check and optimize the plunger control box
Found that when the well kicked on with the EFM the differential spiked up to <200” for between 10 – 15 min 7 times per day
For over 1 hour a day they missed half of their best production with the chart recorder
Before we even looked at optimizing the plunger the well was optimized with EFM measurement
Company installed SCADA
GAS WELL TEST CASE #2
3rd party well with plunger lift and dry flow chart recorder flowing to a Gas Plant in a SCADA automated field
Company was requesting accuracy verification of the chart with a plunger well
We did a 1 month test with the portable EFM/SCADA Company found a difference of 6.1 e3m3 over a 20
day comparison with chart readings the daily difference was ~10.3% higher on the chart as compared to the EFM this equated to a difference of $35,259.00 over a one year period
Company now proceeding with installation of EFM/SCADA
GAS WELL TEST CASE #3
Gas well flowing with Dry Flow chart recorder Company requested SCADA package to optimize and
troubleshoot well loading Provided them with this tool so they could monitor
their well and make necessary adjustments for stop flowing the well on critical flow casing rise etc.
With the use of tubing/casing pressures, timer control and remote monitoring access through UMS they increased their production by ~ 6 e3m3/d or ~$1896/day
The Sky Eye Unit is still on the well optimizing, this builds a great business case for the economics to install their own EFM/SCADA
GAS WELL TEST CASE #3 TREND
OIL WELL APPLICATIONS
Proration problems Proving oil well cuts Oil well testing 3 phase test data on 2 phase separators
OIL WELL TEST CASE #1
Oil well satellite with dry flow chart, turbine and proportional sampler
Company requested SCADA with water cut analyzer for proving oil well cut and test data
Verification with continuous portable analyzer proved the sampler was reading correct data 100% water even though well head cuts showed oil
Trouble shooting discovered the test header valves were passing
Company repaired the valves and testing came back inline
OIL WELL TEST CASE #2
Oil well satellites with dry flows, turbines and samplers
Company having proration issues requested 3 phase portable separators we supplied them with the portable testing SCADA on their existing 2 phase separators with water cut analyzers for ¼ the costs
Tested all their satellites and corresponding wells the company found 8 wells uneconomical to produce, by shutting in these wells monthly savings on operating expenses equated to ~ $100,000/m
OIL WELL TEST CASE #3
Oil well satellite with dry flow, turbine and sampler Company requested SCADA with water cut analyzer
for cut and proration issues Company suspected wells were slugging low cut oil
at undetermined intervals and the sampler was not representing this
With the use of the portable SCADA and UMS trending, we could capture the slug and found that the oil was slugging in and the gas spiked at the same exact time the well would unload oil the difference from previous test ~ 8.94 m3 oil or $4400
This testing is still ongoing to determine which wells are doing this and why? Great data for the Production and Reservoir Engineers

SUMMARY
As the test cases show there are still many wells with measurement inaccuracies and production opportunities.
With the use of portable SCADA the impact to their bottom line could potentially save or gain companies thousands of dollars.
Internet hosting with UMS is a huge advantage to have real time data.
Companies know their wells best, we provided them with the tools and analytical data for trouble shooting their measurement concerns.
