How does the modules (subjects) work?
• Each year is divided in 2 semesters.
• In each semester, you will have a
certain (4-6) number of modules that
you have to complete.
• It is important to work hard and make
sure you pass all your modules,
because a lot of the modules follow on
each other, and if you do not pass a
module that is a prerequisite for a
following module, you cannot continue.
This often result in students having to
study an extra year in order to
complete all the needed modules to
graduate. You need to pass all the
1st -3rd year modules before you van
commence with your 4th study year
Hoe werk modules (vakke)?
How does the modules (subjects) work?
• Each module have a module
code, for example, CSOS 111
and a module name, such as
Design Studies.
• The module code will be mostly
used to identify the module such
as on class and exam rosters.
• Each module also have a certain
number of credits. Credits
indicate the number of hours
that the module will take to
complete, for example, if a
module is a 12 credit, then it will
take approximately 120 hours to
master the module.
Hoe werk modules (vakke)?
modules (vakke) begin
• In die 2de semester gaan jou
modules se middelste nommer altyd
'n 2 wees; die 1ste nommer verwys
na die jaarvlak; so hierdie jaar begin
al jou module nommers met 'n 1
• Die geel gekleurde modules =
'hoofvakke'
Handboeke: Hoor by elke module se lektor Jy kan tweedehandse boeke gebruik, indien beskikbaar Probeer altyd om jou hoofvakke se handboeke te hou
• You will start each semester with new modules (subjects)
• In the 2nd semester, the middle number of your modules will always be a 2; the 1st number refers to the year level; so this year all your module numbers start with a 1
• The yellow-colored modules = 'majors'
Textbooks: Consult each module's lecturer You can use secondhand books, if available Always try to keep your majors' textbooks
