Permaculture Design WorkWe have been studying Permaculture for the last 5 years after attending an introductory course in Cornwall. Then in April 2009 we jointly organised and attended the Permaculture Design Course at Mount Of Oaks in Portugal with Lesley Martin. Ever since then we have been practicing Permaculture design on many different projects in Portugal and the UK.The following is one example of our design presentations..... If you would like to see more examples of our designs feel free to ask.

Design SummaryProcess ReviewExamples of Ethics & Principles applied in Design
Earth Care: Increased diversity of habitat. Returning nutrients to the earth in compost. People Care: Inclusive and empowering for people of all abilities. Everything Gardens: Flowers bordering paths encourage pollinating insects and pest predators. The Yield is Only Limited by the Imagination: Edible lawn provides a valuable yield instead of unproductive green desert.Optimized use of Edge and Natural Pattern: Herb Spiral. Keyhole Mandala Beds. Undulating Edged Pond. Each Element Serves Multiple Functions: Keyhole Mandala/Food Forest/Pond system placed to create mutually beneficial relationships. Each element both receives and gives something to the other elements creating a collectively stronger environment.Relative Location/System Thinking: Compost boxes close to kitchen for organic waste. Also close to the table top gardens enabling easy access to potting compost for users. Sited to be easily accessed by tractor or wheelbarrow for moving bulk amounts of material.

Permaculture Teaching ExperienceIn December 2009 we started the Permaculture Diploma specifically with the intention of becomming accredited Permaculture teachers. We will be giving a public presentation of our work over the last two years at our accreditation event on September 7th 2011 at Quinta Cabeca do Mato, Tabua, Portugal. After this accreditation we will be qualified and further preparing ourselves to teach and certificate our own Permaculture Design Courses.
As part of our diploma work we have developed a Permaculture Design Course syllabus program. We have also had many opportunities of teaching alongside other Permaculture teachers enabling us to find confidence and our own style of teaching together as a team. Subsequently we are prepared for, and enthusiastic about, enabling others to create abundantly sustainable Permaculture systems for themselves and their local communities, helping to supply the needs of people for many generations to come.
![Page 19: Skills resume](https://reader033.fdocuments.in/reader033/viewer/2022052622/5596087c1a28ab0a7c8b45ad/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Permaculture Teaching ExperienceWe have developed our teaching so that it is accessible and enjoyable for all ages especially considering that children are the future of our world to come and the education of those individuals is of the highest importance and has the greatest possibility for positive change. The way we teach the course is 50% practical with hands on experience, games and group work and 50% classroom lessons. Where technology is available we have prepared digitally projected lessons, we can also teach both on black or white board and we are considering using A3 flip charts of our lessons as another teaching tool.
We have included one of our lessons for you to see. In a normal lesson situation we will give much more detail as we are explaining, discussing and answering questions. Here is the basic structure of what would be seen by the students....
